അമേരിക്കയ്ക്കൊപ്പം ഭീകരതയ്ക്കെതിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തില് അണിചേരാന് പാക്കിസ്ഥാന് തീരുമാനിച്ചത് വലിയ മണ്ടത്തരങ്ങളില് ഒന്നായിപ്പോയെന്നു പാക്ക് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഇമ്രാന് ഖാന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടത് രാജ്യത്തിനു നേരിട്ട വൻ നഷ്ടങ്ങളെ കുറിച്ചാണെന്ന് സൂചന. അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ ഭീകരരെ നേരിടാൻ ഭൂമിയും സൈനിക സഹായവും നൽകിയ പാക്കിസ്ഥാനു നൽകേണ്ടിവന്നത് വൻ വിലയാണ്. ശരിയായി ചെയ്യാന് കഴിയാത്ത കാര്യം വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്യാന് പാടില്ലായിരുന്നുവെന്നു എന്നാണ് ജനറല് പര്വേസ് മുഷറഫിന്റെ തീരുമാനത്തെ വിമര്ശിച്ച് ഇമ്രാന് പറഞ്ഞത്. ശരിയാണ്, രാജ്യത്തെ നിരവധി പൗരൻമാരുടെ ജീവൻ കൊടുത്താണ് ഭീകരതെക്കിരായ പോരാട്ടത്തിൽ അമേരിക്കയ്ക്കൊപ്പം പാക്കിസ്ഥാൻ ചേർന്നത്. ഇതിന്റെ ദുരന്തം ഇന്നും അനുഭവിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
കുറച്ചു വർഷങ്ങളായി അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാൻ, പാക്കിസ്ഥാൻ ഉൾപ്പടെയുള്ള രാജ്യങ്ങളില് അമേരിക്ക നടത്തിയ ഡ്രോൺ ആക്രമണത്തിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത് മൂവായിരത്തോളം പേരാണെന്നാണ് കണക്കുകൾ പറയുന്നത്. കൂടുതലും പാക്കിസ്ഥാനിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരാണെന്നും കണക്കുകൾ പറയുന്നു. ലഭ്യമായ റിപ്പോർട്ട് പ്രകാരം 429 ഡ്രോൺ ആക്രമണങ്ങളിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത് 3096 പേരാണ്. ലോകത്ത് ഡ്രോൺ ആക്രമണത്തിലൂടെ സാധാരണക്കാരെ ഇത്രയധികം കൊലപ്പെടുത്തിയതും അമേരിക്കൻ സേന തന്നെയാണ്.
2018 ൽ പുറത്തുവന്ന കണക്കുകൾ പ്രകാരം പാക്കിസ്ഥാനിൽ മാത്രം 409 യുഎസ് ഡ്രോൺ ആക്രമണങ്ങളിൽ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത് 2,174 പേരാണ്. 728 പേർക്ക് പരുക്കേറ്റു. ഈ കണക്കുകൾ ഇതിലും കൂടുമെന്നാണ് അറിയുന്നത്. സിഐഎയുടെ ഡ്രോണുകൾ ബജൗർ, ബന്നു, ഹങ്കു, ഖൈബർ, കുര്രം, മൊഹ്മന്ദ്, വടക്കൻ വസീരിസ്ഥാനിൽ, നുഷ്കി, ഒരാക്സായ്, തെക്കൻ വസീറിസ്ഥാൻ വൻ ആക്രമണങ്ങളാണ് നടത്തിയത്. അമേരിക്കൻ ഡ്രോണുകളുടെ പരീക്ഷണ കേന്ദ്രം കൂടിയായിരുന്നു ഈ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ.2008 നും 2012 നും ഇടയിൽ പാക്കിസ്ഥാൻ പീപ്പിൾസ് പാർട്ടിയുടെ ഭരണകാലത്താണ് ഡ്രോൺ ആക്രമണങ്ങളിൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും നടത്തിയത്. നാഷണൽ കൗണ്ടർ ടെററിസം അതോറിറ്റി (നക്റ്റ) യിലെ വൃത്തങ്ങളെ ഉദ്ധരിച്ചുള്ള റിപ്പോർട്ടിൽ ഇക്കാലയളവിൽ 336 വ്യോമാക്രമണങ്ങൾ നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിൽ 2,282 പേർക്ക് ജീവൻ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു, 658 പേർക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റു.

President Donald Trump said Wednesday Iran appeared to be "standing down" after missile strikes on US troop bases in Iraq that resulted in no American or Iraqi deaths.
