Digital payments touched a record high in 2020 with all channels from the Unified Payments Interface to the Aadhar-enabled Payment System (AePS) registering stellar growth. In 2022, 82% of financial companies state they are planning to increase their fintech partnerships, showing an overwhelming level of confidence in technology as the future of finance. According to a recent report by payment solutions provider ACI Worldwide, India made 48.6 billion real-time payments through 2021, ahead of China at No. 2. Several mobile dating apps have taken off in this segment in the past few years, but few are actually making any significant revenues. In one hand, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of e-commerce worldwide, on the other, it has led to the rise of e-commerce related frauds. According to a new study from Juniper Research, it has been found out that the value of e-commerce fraud-related losses has risen from $17.5 billion in 2020 to $20 billion by 2021, a staggering growth of a whopping 18% within a single year. The research found out that threat actors, as of late, are targeting consumers as they have increased their online shopping. And this, in turn, is exposing the insecure fraud mitigation processes of merchants who are not very familiar with the overwhelming fraud challenges that exist in the e-commerce space.
Increased security can easily lead to increased friction for consumers when it comes to payments. The new research report found out that while merchants are inclined towards reducing e-com fraud risks from their current levels, they are hesitant to introduce extra friction in the checkout process. Juniper Research found also revealed that one way to address this would be to include clear messaging about security checks to consumers and use automated behavioural analytics, which leverages A.I. to preserve the user experience, aka UX. The research highlighted that, merchants would need to make sure the extra layer of security checks are well justified to the user. Only then can they prevent higher cart abandonment rates while making sure they are lowering fraud risks at the same time.

The initial public offering of Paytm's parent company, One97 Communications, has made history by launching India's biggest ever initial public offer worth Rs 18,300 crore, at the time where the market does not have an appetite for such a large listing. The company has amassed over 50 million strong active consumer base and 25 million merchant base. A higher valuation could have been achieved but we decided to price it at a level where everyone makes money,” said Madhur Deora, group chief financial officer at Paytm, after the public issue. The stock was issued at Rs2,150, got listed at Rs1,950, hit a high of Rs1,955 and then went into a relentless decline. Paytm has its hands full with multiple business verticals ranging from payment gateway, consumer lending and various financial services, among others. Now investors and analysts seem to lack faith as they questioned the company's lack of profits and lofty valuation, whereas the competitors of Paytm including Amazon, Flipkart, Google and others are offering almost the same services. As per Axis Securities, a broking firm, says, “Globally, profit-making payment companies are trading at median nine-times of future earnings, whereas One97 Communication, a loss-making company, is valued at 49.7-times its FY21 revenues.
Paytm will find it challenging to expand its business going ahead. “Paytm’s payments-based business model has been disrupted by Unified Payment Interface, a real-time retail payment system developed by government-backed National Payments Corporation of India or NPCI. As per various published reports, Paytm made an initial public offer of Rs18,300 crore in November 2021. A major part of the issue, i.e., Rs10,000 crore was offer for sale from the existing shareholders who used the IPO to harvest their returns. #Ransomware continues to be an ongoing problem with protecting users’ data, there is a cell phone scam the public needs to be aware of as well. The FBI says criminals have escalated SIM card swap attacks to hijack victims’ phone numbers and steal millions of dollars from fiat and virtual currency accounts. “Both people and companies have become conditioned to being able to verify identity through simple questions like social security number or mother’s maiden name. Unfortunately, this falls apart completely when data breaches affecting millions of people routinely occur. Now information that was previously assumed to be relatively private is in the hands of malicious parties who can leverage it to easily impersonate their victims.” SIM swapping is a scam in which malicious parties target cell phone carriers to gain access to victims’ bank accounts, virtual currency accounts and additional sensitive information by using social engineering, insider threat or phishing techniques. Social engineering involves a criminal to impersonate the victim’s mobile number by tricking the cell phone carrier into switching the victim’s mobile number to a SIM card that is in the criminal’s possession, allowing the malicious party to access the victim’s calls, texts and other data, but this is only one of the three methods used to steal funds from victims.
FBI encourages mobile users to first contact their mobile carriers immediately to regain control of their phone number, then accessing their online accounts to change their passwords that protect their sensitive data. Insider threat takes place when a criminal actor pays off a mobile carrier employee to switch the victim’s SIM to a card currently in the criminal’s possession. बीते सोमवार को भारत के जाने माने शेफ संजीव कपूर एयर इंडिया की फ्लाइट में नागपुर से मुंबई जा रहे थे। इस दौरान उन्होंने एयर इंडिया की मेहमान नवाजी को लेकर सोशल मीडिया पर पोस्ट शेयर कर उनकी जमकर क्लास लगाई। एयर इंडिया को शयद ये भूल गया कि जिसे वो फ्लाइट में खाना सर्व कर रहे हैं वो इस दुनिया के बेहतरीन शेफ्स में गिने जाते हैं। दरअसल एयर इंडिया के स्टाफ ने शेफ संजीव कपूर को ऐसा भोजन परोस कर दिया कि उन्होंने एयर इंडिया की मेहमान नवाजी को लेकर बड़ी ही असंतोषजनक प्रतिक्रिया दी और सोशल मीडिया पर पोस्ट शेयर कर उनकी खूब खिंचाई की। शेफ संजीव कपूर ने एयर इंडिया की फ्लाइट में तरबूज, खीरा, टमाटर और सेब के साथ ठंडा चिकन टिक्का जैसी चीजें परोसे जाने की आलोचना की है।

The Supreme Court today pronounced its long-awaited verdict in the Tata-Mistry case, one of corporate India's bitterest-ever boardroom brawls, ruling in favour of Tata Group and junking appeals by Cyrus Investments. MUMBAI: Cyrus Mistry, ousted chairman of Tata Sons, has stated that despite the NCLAT order being in his favour, he will not be pursuing the post of the executive chairmanship of Tata Sons, TCS, Tata Teleservices or Tata Industries."I will, however, vigorously pursue all options to protect our rights as a minority shareholder, including that of resuming the thirty year history of a seat at the Board of Tata Sons and the incorporation of the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency at Tata Sons," he said in a media statement on Sunday
