5. Adelaide 2014: Kohli's 100s in both innings
On India tour of Australia, the tourists were playing their first test under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. Riding on the centuries by Warner, Smith and Clarke, Australia declared their first innings after posting a mammoth total of 517 runs. In response to this, India commenced well and scored 444 runs with the help of the skipper’s ton of 115 runs. Playing with a lead of 73 runs the hosts declared the innings at a score of 290/5. Chasing 364 to win, India lost Pujara and Dhawan cheaply. Murali Vijay who hit a fifty in the first innings, unfortunately, fell on 99; however the big man Kohli kept the test alive by hitting a ton in the second innings as well. After 53 years, an overseas batsman scored tons in both the innings. With Kohli becoming the only other captain to score a century in both the innings on debut, India lost the match by 48 runs.
