Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians Match Highlights April 22 2018 Vivo IPL

    K. Gowthams quickfire 33 not out off 11 deliveries helped Rajasthan Royals overcome Mumbai Indians by three wickets here on Sunday as they ended their two-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In pursuit of Mumbai's 167/7, powered by half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, Rajasthan were in trouble having lost six wickets for 125 runs till 17.1 overs. But 29-year-old Karnataka bowling all-rounder Gowtham whacked four fours and two sixes to see Rajasthan overhaul Mumbai target with two deliveries to spare.

Earlier in the first innings, Yadav and Kishan put on an excellent batting display to add 129 runs between them off 82 deliveries coming together after the early departure of Mumbai opener Evin Lewis.

Yadav scored a whirlwind knock of 72 runs, smashing six boundaries and three hits into the stands during his 47-ball stay in the middle.

Kishan posted a steady 58 off 42 balls which included four boundaries and three sixes.

For Rajasthan, young West Indies pacer Jofra Archer was the most successful bowler with figures of 3/22.

Fellow pacer Dhawal Kulkarni returned 2/32 while Jaidev Unadkat also got a wicket.

Kulkarni struck the first blow for the hosts in the very first over when Lewis dragged an inside edge on to his stumps.

But that was the only bit of success Rajasthan managed as Yadav and Kishan took their bowlers to the cleaners.

Heath streak reveals KKR's plans of dealing with Chris Gayle | KKR vs KXIP | April 21 2018

After Chris Gayle blasted a 63-ball 104 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling coach Heath Streak on Friday hinted that they will look to get the dynamic West Indies batter back in the hut early when they take on Kings XI Punjab here.

Gayle's whirlwind hundred, his sixth in the Indian Premier League (IPL), helped Punjab ease past Hyderabad by 15 runs at Mohali on Thursday night.

Gayle hit 11 sixes and took the best T20 bowler in the world, Rashid Khan, to the cleaners smashing the Afghanistan spinner for four consecutive sixes.

"Lot of people always ask us, the bowling coaches 'what's the plan'. It is very difficult for us to say because then he'll find out. So we can't really tell you the exact plan. He is a dangerous player," Streak told reporters when asked about plans to contain Gayle on the eve of their Punjab game at the Eden Gardens here.

Rahane takes all the blame for defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders | RR vs KKR | IPL 2018

Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane blamed himself for his team's seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Wednesday night.

"I feel it was a different wicket from what we played on against Delhi Daredevils. It was slow and ball was also keeping low. I feel it was my responsibility to take that innings forward," Rahane told reporters after the game here at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

"It is hard to recover from slow start because T20 is all about one or two big overs. I was batting well and wanted to continue till the 14th or 15th over," the India Test vice-captain added.

Rahane scored a 19-ball 36 and was looking good for a big one after being put in to bat by rival skipper Dinesh Karthik. But he lost his wicket to a Nitish Rana delivery in which Karthik pulled off a brilliant stumping.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stretched their winning run to two games by registering a facile seven-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Wednesday.

After restricting RR to 160/8, the two-time champions, who also won against Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs in their last game, rode on Robin Uthappa's 36-ball 48 (6x4, 2x6) to set up the chase and eventually win with seven balls to spare posting 163/3 in 18.5 overs.

Skipper Dinesh Karthik (42 not out; 2x4, 2x6) and Nitish Rana (35 not out; 2x4, 1x6) combined for an unbroken 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket to ease past the line. Karthik hit a six off Ben Laughlin to secure the win in style.

KKR never looked in trouble despite losing out-of-form Australian opener Chris Lynn (0) in only the second ball of their innings, with off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham (2/23) flattening his stumps with a ball that spun sharply into the batsman who tried to cut.

Uthappa and Narine then came together for a 69-run stand for the first wicket. Uthappa looked in imperious form, hitting Jaydev Unadkat for three fours in the fifth over.

Narine took time to get into the groove, smashing a six off Laughlin over deep midwicket using the depth of the crease to good effect.

A brilliant all-round effort helped Kings XI Punjab beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 15 runs in an Indian Premier League match here on Thursday.

First, Chris Gayle's unbeaten 104-run knock helped Punjab posted a mammoth 193/3 and then, its bowlers managed to restrict the visitors to 178/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a massive target, Hyderabad never looked in contention as the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals. Hyderabad's in-form opener Shikhar Dhawan got injured on his first ball and from then, the required rate kept on increasing and none of the batsmen scored freely.

Skipper Kane Williamson (54) and middle-order batsman Manish Pandey (57 not out), however tried to narrow the gap between the runs but lack of support from other batters costly hugely.

Yusuf Pathan (19) and Shakib Al Hasan (24 not out) also displayed the signs of coming back to form but could not contribute handsomely.

For Punjab, Mohit Sharma and Andrew Tye took two wickets each.

Earlier, Gayle struck a 63-ball 104, laced with 11 sixes and a boundary to set the jam-packed stadium on fire.

Opting to bat, Punjab started on a cautious note as openers Lokesh Rahul (18) and Gayle stitched a 53-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan drew first blood for Hyderabad, dismissing Rahul in the eighth over.

Medium pacer Siddarth Kaul provided another jolt to the hosts, packing back incoming batsman Mayank Agarwal (18) in the 11th over

IPL 2018 | Michael Hussey reckons MS Dhoni will attract a lot of fans in their adopted home Pune
Michael Hussey believes that MS Dhoni is a hero in India and will attract support anywhere he goes to play. After Chennai had to leave their fortress in Chepauk just after one game, Hussey has also stated that the team will also try to adapt themselves quickly to the new conditions in Pune.

Problems don’t seem to end for Chennai Super Kings, who had to leave their home stadium in Chepauk due to some unavoidable reasons. CSK will have to play their remaining six home games in Pune, which is now their home away from home. One of the key strengths of Chennai was the support they used to get at their home ground. With them having to leave their home, they certainly won’t have that strength anymore. However, batting coach Michael Hussey believes that MS Dhoni will bring in a lot of fans wherever he goes to play. Having played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the previous edition, Dhoni and few other players will help the team adapt pretty well or so Hussey believes.

Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2018 | April 22 2018

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pipped Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday to return to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) table.

Chasing a challenging 183-run target, Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson (84) and Yusuf Pathan (45 off 27) put up a good fight but fell short.

SRH were off to a disastrous start losing three wickets for just 22 runs in 4.2 overs. Young medium pacer Deepak Chahar gave the early jolts to the hosts after bagging the wickets of opener Ricky Bhui (0), Manish Pandey (0) and Deepak Hooda (1).

However, Williamson kept Hyderabad's hopes alive after a 49-run stand with Shakib Al Hasan (24 off 19) for the fourth wicket. With Shakib falling in the 11th over on a Karn Sharma over and Hyderabad reeling at 71/4, the skipper was then joined by Yusuf Pathan.

With everything going Chennai's way, Williamson and Pathan staged a terrific fightback with their 79-run partnership, punishing every Chennai bowler.

Pacer Dwayne Bravo finally got the better of the Hyderabad skipper in the 18th over with the hosts needing 32 off the last two overs. Williamson's knock was decorated by five fours and as many sixes.

Just when it was anybody's game, pacer Shardul Thakur sent back a dangerous Pathan in the 19th over.

Delhi Daredevils bowling coach SriRam hails Andre Russel's knock | IPL Post Match Interview

Delhi Daredevils were once again guilty of an uneven bowling pattern and giving away runs when in patches instead of building on momentum. Against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Monday, DD lost by 71 runs with KKR scoring 200/9 when the number could have been lesser. In the three matches played so far by Delhi Daredevils, the powerplay overs have been a significant factor. In the powerplay overs, the Gautam Gambhir-captained side have been pounded to 30 fours and 14 sixes. This translates into an economy rate of 10.75.

Delhi Daredevils began their season by seeing KL Rahul thrash the bowlers around for fastest fifty in just 14 balls. Then, they gave away 84 runs in 36 balls to Mumbai Indians’ Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav. On Monday at the Eden Gardens, DD kept Chris Lynn in check, and dismissed Sunil Narine cheaply, and yet things didn’t go as they would have hoped. From 19 runs off four overs, KKR finished the powerplay with 50 runs for 31 runs in two overs.

That’s something we need to address, and address very quickly,” assistant coach Sridharan Sriram said. “Against Kings XI, Rahul ran away, playing a blistering innings. Against Rajasthan, we were good. But in the last game we conceded 84 and today they were 19 off four [overs] and finished 50 off six.

Kolkata Knight Riders rode on Nitish Rana and Andre Russell's heroics to snap a two-game losing streak and register a 71-run victory over Delhi Daredevils in a lopsided Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Eden Gardens here on Monday.

Put in by their celebrated former captain Gautam Gambhir, KKR piled up 200/9 as in-form Rana smashed a 35-ball 59 with Russell clobbering a 12-ball 44, that included six sixes off Mohammed Shami.

In reply, Glenn Maxwell's 22-ball 47 and Rishabh Pant's 26-ball 43 went in vain, as Delhi were bundled out for 129 with mystery spinner Sunil Narine (3/18) and chinaman Kuldeep Yadav (3/32) plotting most of the damage.

Delhi were reduced to 24/3 inside the first three overs with opener Jason Roy (1), Shreyas Iyer (4) and skipper Gambhir (8) back in the hut.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla (1/16) got Roy's back in the last ball of the innings' first over with a slider down the leg side which the England batsman missed and went down the wicket for skipper Dinesh Karthik to effect a stumping.

In the next over, Rana caught Iyer at first slip off Russell's bowling while the big wicket of Gambhir -- who is KKR's most successful captain winning two IPLs with them -- fell to U-19 World Cup winner Shivam Mavi (1/14).

Pant and Maxwell then came together for a 62-run stand for the fourth wicket before the former holed out to Chawla at deep midwicket off Yadav.

    KXIP vs SRH | Vivo IPL 2018 | Match Highlights | Gayle 104* (58)
