They coloured public perception through a deft but devious media campaign that showed the pre-election period as dark and gloomy and promised “Achhe Din” under BJP rule.
Six months of Shri Modi’s model of governance and there are three shameful characteristics that stand out: first, U Turn on promises, second, plagiarising and renaming of UPA schemes/decisions and third, selling out national interests to benefit friendly industrial and corporate houses. To hide his failures, Shri Modi’s TV events, rhetoric and showmanship driven Sarkar has been presenting a TV-tamasha-a-day to divert people’s mind from the problems faced by the nation. These tamashas are nothing but attempts to keep people alienated from real issues, so that they don’t start asking questions.
In the run up to the elections, Shri Modi and BJP made a series of promises and have shamelessly reneged on all of them: Governance, Black Money, Rail Fares, Diesel Deregulation, Tainted Politicians, Stand on Corruption and Lokpal, Subsidy on LPG cylinders and Validity of CAG reports to charge political opponents, are only a few examples

Addressing the Congress workers at the AICC session held in New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi said that Congress has given this country the Right to Information and now Lokpal Bill to fight corruption.
In his address to Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said, the Lokpal Bill alone is not adequate to fight corruption. We need a comprehensive anti-corruption code in this country, Rahul Gandhi said. The UPA Government has developed a powerful anti-corruption framework consisting of eight new Central laws.
"This is not about one Bill, this is about a frame work and we want to deliver that frame work to the country," Rahul Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi also said that the opposition has stalled Parliament for years after years and that Congress party is committed to pass these bills in the coming sessions.

Watch this video on UPA's six anti-graft Bills that will establish a framework against corruption. The biggest hurdle in UPA's effort is being posed by the BJP.
These important Bills include: the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010; the Whistle Blowers Protection Bill, 2011; the Right of Citizens for Time Bound Delivery of Goods and Services and Redressal of their Grievances Bill, 2011; the Prevention of Bribery of Foreign Public Officials and Officials of Public International Organisations Bill, 2011; the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and the Public Procurement Bill, 2012.
"If these Bills are implemented in spirit, dishonest officials will be punished and honest officers will be protected," said Rahul Gandhi.
However, it is the BJP, and the opposition, who are stalling these Bills in Parliament. "Who is standing against those Bills? We want to pass them. We are being stopped in Parliament. Who is stopping it? BJP is stopping it. They don't allow functioning of Parliament," said Rahul Gandhi.

The Lokpal bill was first introduced by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1968. The Right to Information Act, 2009 was UPA's first and most important assault on corruption in this country.
