Ireland vs South Africa - 2nd T20I Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI and Previews

South Africa will be locking horns with Ireland in the second T20I at the County Ground, Bristol on Friday, August 5. A spirited Proteas would be hoping to seal the series by registering yet another win under their belt. They overcame the Andrew Balbirne-led side by 21 runs in a high-scoring encounter in the series opener.

The Proteas seem to be unstoppable in this format at the moment for the last couple of months that saw them level a bilateral T20I series against the top-ranked Indian team and then register an away 2-1 series victory over England in their own backyard recently. It can be rightly said that the South Africans are peaking at the right time and making a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup down under.

Ireland, on the other hand, have a lot of work to do in the format. They have suffered back-to-back defeats in T20Is in the last two months. They were first blanked 0-2 by a second-string Indian side at home, which was followed by a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand. The Irish would now be hoping to come out all guns blazing with the series on the line.

    IRE vs SA Pitch Report

The surface at the County Ground is usually good for batting and many high scores have been registered at this venue. The batting in the second innings also gets easier. However, both teams will be eager to play to their strengths by putting up runs on the board and then adding pressure on the opposition. Therefore, the captain winning the toss would be looking to bat first.

Ireland vs South Africa - 1st T20I Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI and Previews

Ireland and South Africa are all set to play a two-match T20I series and the first match gets underway on August 3 at the County Ground in Bristol. The Andrew Balbirnie-led side is coming off a series defeat against New Zealand in both ODIs and T20Is and they will be looking to put up a better performance in the upcoming series.

On the other hand, South Africa are coming off a series victory against England in their own backyard and they have been on the money since the tour to India. The Proteas have some match winners in their squad and the batting lineup looks quite dangerous at the moment with the inclusion of Rilee Rossouw.

    IRE vs SA Pitch Report
Bristol has been a high-scoring venue usually and the same could be expected in the upcoming game as well. The skipper winning the toss will be looking to bowl first as the pitch looks quite flat and any score could be chased down with wickets in the bank.

The right-hander, who opened the innings, finished with scores of 57, 53 and 70 in the three innings he played for South Africa and deserved his Player of the Series award. England vs South Africa - 2nd T20I Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI, and Previews

After registering a convincing 41-run win in the first game, England would be hoping to seal the series by getting the better of South Africa in the all-important second T20I that will be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Thursday, July 28. Since the series opener was played just a day earlier, both teams would be looking to recover just in time from fatigue and traveling and showcase good performances on the field.

England were impressive with both the bat and ball in the first T20I as they gave the South Africans no chance of making a comeback once the ball was in their court. Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan’s 71-run stand for the third wicket along with the 106-run fourth wicket stand off 37 balls between Bairstow and Moeen Ali helped the hosts post a mammoth 234/6 on the board and the bowlers then ensured to get the job done. More importantly, a win was possible due to Moeen Ali’s all-round brilliance.

The Proteas only have themselves to blame for being 0-1 down in the series as they dropped Jonny Bairstow thrice with two of them being sitters as he top-scored with a 53-ball 90.

England vs South Africa - 1st T20I Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI, and Previews

After the ODI series ended in a draw, two strong-looking teams in the form of England and South Africa will take on each other in a T20I series with the first encounter to be played at the County Ground, Bristol on July 27 (Wednesday). Meanwhile, the Proteas have given strong competition to the home team during the 50-over matches and will back themselves to win the T20I series.

Talking about the England team, experienced all-rounder Moeen Ali has been England’s top run-getter in the T20I format this year. Batters Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, and Liam Livingstone have also looked in good touch and they will want to give their best in the upcoming series.

Meanwhile, South Africa are also looking strong on paper with their senior batters including Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, and Aiden Markram performing extremely well with the bat. Pacers Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi will look to provide early wickets to their side and help their team to get in a strong position.

Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the first game of the series.

    Pitch Conditions
The wicket at County Ground, Bristol is expected to be good for batting with a high-scoring encounter looking on the cards. The wicket has generally offered help to the seamers in the past. The skipper winning the toss might be tempted to have a bowl first and chase the total later on.

England vs South Africa - 3rd ODI Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI, and Previews

England trounced South Africa by 118 runs in the second ODI in a rain-curtailed affair in Manchester and drew level in the three-match series. The series finale between the two sides will be staged at Headingley in Leeds on Sunday, 24th of July.

English batters stayed true to their tactics of being aggressive from the get-go in white ball cricket and were staring down the barrel after losing their top five batters on the score of 72 after the match was reduced to 29 overs per side. And they were bowled out for 201 after some adept batting by the lower-order batters.

At the halfway mark, the visitors must have been proud of their bowling effort and would have been confident of chasing the total to clinch the series. But the English bowlers took just 23 deliveries to wreck that dream as South Africa lost their top order for just six runs and the match was a mere formality as the Proteas succumbed to an embarrassingly low total of 83 runs.

The final ODI will be an enthralling encounter as England seem to have found their mojo back. They will be eyeing their first series victory under Jos Buttler‘s leadership.

Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the final game of the series.

    Pitch and conditions
The surface at Headingley offers variable bounce and assists the seam bowlers to great extent in overcast conditions. The team winning the toss on the previous two occasions have opted to bowl, a trend which might not continue as chasing a decent target on this pitch can be a tad tricky.

The hosts were rescued in the second ODI by their all-rounders, who came up with handy scores with the bat to take England to a respectable total. The English camp is sticking with their all-out attack approach at the top of the order, which hasn’t been fruitful so far under Jos Buttler’s stint.

England vs South Africa - 2nd ODI Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI, and Previews

England’s turbulent start under newly appointed white-ball skipper Jos Buttler continued as they lost the series opener against visitors South Africa after a disappointing outing in Durham on the 19th of July, Tuesday in Ben Stokes’s farewell game in ODI cricket.

South Africa were superior in all departments of the game and performed diligently under stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj. Rassie van der Dussen continued his phenomenal run in ODI cricket and registered a magnificent ton in front of Stokes’ home crowd that had gathered to commemorate his final hoorah in the format.

The hosts will be hoping to end the sequence of disappointing performances in white-ball cricket, in the do-or-die second match in Manchester on Friday, the 22nd of July. The good news for Buttler is that the opening batters, who struggled for runs in the previous series against India, showed signs of a return to form in the first ODI, while Joe Root also looked at his fluent best in the series opener.

Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the second game of the series.

    Pitch and conditions
The previous encounter at Old Trafford showed that batting in the second innings gets much easier in comparison to the first innings. The dimensions of the field will favour the batters more, unlike in Durham. The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first as the new ball will move a bit in the early part of the match.

For the first time in almost a decade, England won’t be able to call up Ben Stokes to bail them out in tough situations. Buttler’s men will walk out at Old Trafford determined to end their agony in white-ball cricket. Philip Salt is most likely to come into the team to replace the retired Stokes.

England vs South Africa - 1st ODI Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI, and Previews

England suffered a narrow series defeat to India in the recently concluded ODI series as Jos Buttler’s turbulent start to full-time captaincy continued after losing the T20I series against the same opposition earlier.

But the English side won’t have much time to lick their wounds as a combative South African team visits the English shores for an ODI and T20I series followed by three Tests. The Proteas will engage in the first ODI of the three-match series on 19th July, Tuesday at the Riverside Ground.

South Africa, unlike the hosts, haven’t played any cricket since their T20I series against India last month, which finished 2-2, and will be itching to get back onto the field amidst a jampacked international calendar. They will be without their influential skipper Temba Bavuma, recovering from an elbow injury sustained against India. Keshav Maharaj will lead the side on his behalf instead.

Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the first game of the series.

    Watch out.

    Pitch and conditions

The surface at the Riverside Stadium is one of the lower scoring grounds in the country, and the team chasing has won 11 of the 20 matches played at the venue. The pacers will be a handful at the venue with early seam movement on offer and the team winning the toss would prefer to bowl first, and a first innings tally of under 240 will favour the chasing side.

Playing Combinations for ENG vs SA
    England

Buttler will be concerned with the recurrent failure of his top-order batters in the ODI series against India but will back them to come good in the upcoming white-ball series against the Proteas. Matthew Potts, who has been impressive in red-ball cricket for the hosts, has made it to the ODI squad and will be eager to make his impression in white-ball cricket as well. Adil Rashid also returns to the squad after his return from Pilgrimage duties.

  • Deep Dasgupta calls Quinton de Kock an extremely talented player

Deep Dasgupta calls Quinton de Kock an extremely talented player

Lucknow Super Giants have won their third game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season beating the Delhi Capitals by six wickets. Quinton de Kock was the hero for the KL Rahul-led side scoring more than half of the runs in the chase while the bowlers did a good job earlier in the day. However, DC bowlers should be credited for trying hard and taking the game to the last over. But LSG were too good on the day for them.

The chase of 150 runs must have seemed straightforward to many. But it wasn’t case with the surface slowing considerably as the innings progressed. LSG’s opening pair of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock, especially the latter, probably knew it as they took the attack to the position early on in the innings. De Kock showed his class playing some excellent strokes, especially off his South Africa teammate Anrich Nortje who endured a horrible day.

Rahul and De Kock added 73 runs for the opening wicket in less than 10 overs before the former’s stay was ended by Kuldeep Yadav. It wasn’t a good day with the bat for the LSG skipper could only score 24 runs off 25 deliveries. Soon Evin Lewis also was dismissed thanks to Lalit Yadav and at 86/2 in the 13th over, things looked in balance.

However, De Kock had other ideas as he continue taking charge of the innings to slam a brilliant half-century. Things were tough for new batters in the middle but the southpaw was batting on another level. He dominated the 36-run stand with Deepak Hooda before getting out for well-made 80 off just 52 deliveries. LSG needed only 28 runs off 24 deliveries when he got out. But there was still a twist left in the game.

DC bowlers came back well to being the equation down to 19 runs off the last two overs. But Krunal Pandya finally managed to make up for the dot balls he played hitting a massive six in the 19th over. A good penultimate over meant that LSG only needed five runs to win. Deepak Hooda got out off the first ball of the final over

Quinton De Kock Apologizes For Not Taking Knee and More News

The Proteas batter Quinton de Kock has come forward to apologize to his teammates and fans for having withdrawn his name from the game against West Indies over taking a knee. In a statement that was released on Thursday morning, October 28, the batter stated that his intentions were not to hurt anyone and that he understands the importance of standing against racism.

Ahead of South Africa’s match against West Indies, the CSA had issued a directive. The board thus made it mandatory for all the Proteas players to take a knee before their remaining matches of the T20 World Cup. However, during the toss, the news came in that Quinton de Kock has pulled out of the game due to personal reasons. Later it was reported that it was his refusal to take a knee.

Former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten might replace Misbah-ul-Haq as the Head Coach of the Pakistan cricket team. Apart from Kirsten, the likes of Simon Katich and Peter Moores are also considered for the role as well.

Before the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup, Misbah-ul-Haq had announced that he would like to resign as the Head Coach of the Pakistan cricket team. Along with Misbah, even bowling coach Waqar Younis also tendered his resignation as well.

Saqlain Mushtaq is currently serving as the interim Head Coach of the Pakistan cricket team. It is also reported that the new Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja wants to appoint a foreign coach.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allowed Jason Holder to come into the West Indies squad as a replacement for Obed McCoy. McCoy has been ruled out of the entire competition after suffering a leg injury.

The ICC released an official statement where they stated that Holder was already named as a reserve player according to the allowances given to the various teams keeping in mind the Covid-19 quarantine measures. And, if a team wants a player to be replaced, then they will have to take the

Shoaib Akhtar Walks Out Of Live Show Also Featuring Viv Richards After Being Called Rude

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been highly critical of the New Zealand cricket team after it abandoned its tour of Pakistan back in September. The Black Caps cited ‘security threats’ as a reason for pulling out of the tour. Thereafter, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) arranged a chartered flight for the Kiwis’ contingent for their return back home.

Later, Akhtar posted a video where he asked Pakistan to go berserk against New Zealand in their T20 World Cup 2021 clash. The Rawalpindi Express said that New Zealand Cricket had “killed Pakistan cricket”. Before Pakistan’s clash with the Kiwis on October 26 in Sharjah, Akhtar didn’t forget to take a sarcastic jibe at their opponent.

“I request all Pakistan fans to remain silent and not enjoy too extravagantly. There is every chance that New Zealand may ask for the match to be called off due to too much noise inside the stadium, if not for security concerns,” Akhtar wrote.

In what can be called a significant development, Quinton de Kock might receive a shocking lifeline from Australia’s primary T20 tournament, Big Bash League (BBL). The South African wicketkeeper-batter ignited a controversy by pulling out of his side’s T20 World Cup 2021 fixture against West Indies. De Kock apparently took the decision after Cricket South Africa made it compulsory for players to take a knee before the match in order to showcase solidarity towards the Black Lives Matter (BLM) moment.

Although team skipper Temba Bavuma said he respects De Kock’s decision, there’s a possibility of the southpaw not representing South Africa ever again in international cricket. He is even unlikely to take part in the remainder of the tournament. Amidst this controversy, at least one BBL team has reportedly approached De Kock’s management in order to bring him in Australia’s top T20 competition.

The report, which was brought out by Daily Telegraph, even claims that Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai

Virat Kohli : We need major changes at RCB for next year | Virat Kohli Interview

Pretty much everything and the bungling had started much before crisp collars and sharp suits assembled in Bengaluru’s Ritz-Carlton for the mega auction on the last weekend of January. Sarfaraz Khan, a doubtlessly prodigious age-group cricketer but with little to show for in Twenty20 cricket, was retained pre-auction, and KL Rahul, good enough to score international hundreds in all three formats, was duly dispensed with.

The elegant right-hander was RCB’s third-highest run-getter in 2016 and had missed the 2017 edition due to a shoulder injury after acing the tough home series against Australia earlier that year. Letting him go was a surprise, and the fact that RCB didn’t once bid for him in auction confirmed that they were certain to look beyond him, which was a surprise, considering his well-documented talent to score quickly and correctly.

Rahul triggered a fierce bidding war between Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kings XI Punjab, and was ultimately taken by Punjab at 5.5 times his base price of Rs. 2 crore. He justified his price with 659 runs from 14 matches, ending IPL 2018 as third-highest scorer.

Virat and De-Villiers turn finishers to keep RCB alive : Match Highlights RCB vs DD

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers produced a batting masterclass as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Daredevils by five wickets in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter here on Saturday.

Chasing a challenging target of 182 runs, RCB lost openers Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali within the first three overs.

But the jubilant Delhi crowd soon fell silent as Kohli and de Villiers took over. The duo needed just 64 deliveries to put together a partnership of 118 runs as RCB wrested the upper hand.

Kohli amassed 70 runs in a 40-ball hurricane knock which included seven boundaries and three massive hits into the stands.

Experienced leg-spinner Amit Mishra finally got rid of Kohli with a delivery that turned away sharply after spinning. The RCB captain was fooled by the extra bit of turn as Delhi wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant latched onto the outside edge.

But the visitors were well on their way to victory by that point with 45 runs needed off 40 balls.

De Villiers went on to remain unbeaten with a 72-run blitzkrieg which came off a mere 37 balls. The South African star, who brought up the winning runs in style with a six off pacer Trent Boult, hit four boundaries and six sixes during his stay in the middle.

Stephen Fleming : Jadeja will prove his class in the coming matches

Defending his players after the loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game here, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming said the team has performed well so far and changes are not required after just one bad game.

Poor fielding and bowling let CSK down against KKR at the Eden Gardens here on Thursday night.

Ravindra Jadeja, regarded as one of the best fielders around, dropped KKR opener Sunil Narine twice on six, off successive deliveries by pacer K.M. Asif.

Narine was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his all-round show -- 32 runs and 2/20 -- as KKR secured a six-wicket victory with 14 balls to spare. They moved to the third spot in the points table while CSK dropped to second.

"We were exposed and I think sometimes it reflected on the bowling. Certainly we were on the backfoot with some good fielders making mistakes, it hit down a little bit," Fleming said at the post match press conference while referring to Jadeja's gaffes.

"Look, that can happen in a long tournament… It's not a great performance by any means but we have got hours rather than days to rectify. A loss just is a little slap on the face and hopefully it has not affected in day and half's time and there's still going to be hardwork.
