    Focus on Business Resiliency

In the era of digital transformation, data is all pervasive. As per Research and Markets, the global big data market is expected to reach Rs 34,943.77 Billion by 2027, expanding at a CAGR of around 12.81 percent making data as an influential factor in business and economies around the world. Out of this, the valuation is expected to reach Rs 558.24 Billion in India by 2027, making it one of the top 10 markets for data and analytics.

The increasing volume of data management and analysis in addition to the advances in technology add reasons to examine why cybersecurity is critical and how to ensure we stay ahead of cyberthreats. The Dell Technologies Global Data Protection Index Report 2022 suggests, 86% of businesses globally, have experienced a cybersecurity incident led disruption in the last 12 months. India is especially vulnerable having faced 18 million cyber-attacks in just the first quarter of 2022.

It is fair to say that cybersecurity will become more critical through the 2020-2030 digital decade.

There is no reason to believe the level of data breaches will suddenly decline in 2023. As organizations of all sizes struggle to defend the data they hold, it is essential that everyone practice good cyber-hygiene.

The importance and volume of the data itself make the cyberthreats and cyber-risks more prevalent, which makes cybersecurity an increasingly critical strategic factor in businesses.

While data lies at the center, organizations often get limited by their understanding of the distinction between data and cyber security. Data security focuses on the data itself and access to the data to protect against unauthorized modification, destruction, and disclosure.

    Cyberattacks and Disruptive Malwares

#Cybersecurity has become more than a technological concern. Because the cybersecurity professional’s role now touches disciplines throughout a business, everyone with responsibility for cybersecurity requires training that spans IT, cybersecurity frameworks, business and interpersonal skills. The increasing Geo-political conflict triggers an increase in cyberattacks and the rise of ‘disruption and destruction’ malware.

Education and Research remain the most targeted sector, but attacks on the healthcare sector registered a 74% increase year-on-year. There is increasing Hacktivism - #Ransomware Extortion and Cloud Third Party Threat in the country.

Indian data center market size to breach $11 billion by 2027

The Indian data center market size was valued at $4.35 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.07% during 2022-2027. The enterprise adoption of cloud-based services, big data analytics, and IoT services has been a strong force for data center investments in India. COVID-19 has significantly aided the demand for data center services such as colocation and managed cloud services among enterprises in India. The migration of traditional service offerings to cloud-based platforms by government agencies is also a major driving factor for the development of data center facilities in India. The India data center market by area is expected to reach 2,200 thousand square feet by 2027. Now, key questions that arise is what lies ahead for the data center industry in India? What new trends are going to shape its future? The trend shows, the data center industry is evolving and new trends will keep emerging with the demand for new-age disruptive technologies such as AI, edge computing, and IoT can be utilized to maximize energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact. India contains several data center clusters throughout the country providing plenty of colocation opportunities. India witnessed 16 new projects/expansions in 2021, and some major investors in the market include companies like Bharti Airtel, AWS, Colt Data Centre Services, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India, NTT Global Data Centers, CtrlS, and Yotta Infrastructure, ESDS and Capitaland among others.

The demand for more data centers arises from the demand for Data localization. The government has issued guidelines highlighting the need to store data of Indian users within the country’s boundaries. Data localization has made it mandatory for companies that collect critical consumer data to store and process it in local data centers. This has given a huge surge to local data centers. India's video market is set to grow at 9.5% CAGR in the next five years

India’s TV channel business, which stands at $5 billion in 2021, is poised to $18 bn in revenue opportunity in the next 5 years. According to Media Partners Asia, the size of India’s total video market currently stands at $11.6 billion. Growth in future subscription revenues however will come largely from online video. As the market expands, we will continue to see more consolidation, particularly in the traditional television sector, but at the same time entry of new foreign players will continue to expand the video pie and the share of online video. India’s TV channel business which stands at $5 billion in 2021 is poised to grow at 11% CAGR over the next five years to $8.5 billion. "However, it is important to know that this has largely been fuelled by advertising, the subscription growth in the industry is under huge pressure for broadcasters and also for operators because many have been shackled by regulations. And hopefully these will be eased in the coming months, allowing broadcasters to invest more in quality content for TV screens.

Secondly, India’s online video ad revenue market will surpass the $1 billion mark this year. "Over the last 24 months, besides YouTube, Facebook, and the large direct to consumer brands, we have seen new categories of AVOD players expanding the market. Short video platforms are a hit in rural India and serve as an important conduit for advertisers to reach audiences in these markets. Similarly, telcos are now slowly looking to monetize their reach. So as these players across various buckets of AVOD services build scale, the market for online video advertising will continue to expand and grow at 16.5% CAGR or about 2.5x GDP growth over next five years. On the SVOD side, subsidised telco bundles as well as growing investments in local original content have opened up the subscription market opportunity. "By 2026, India will have more than 200 million direct SVOD subscriptions or let’ say 1 in every 4 broadban

Cloud computing - enabler of digital transformation

Today, the business world is driven by technology. Every industry is riding the digital transformation wave. Hence, the most crucial challenge before businesses is to strike a balance between the technology available to them and the technology that is relevant for them. Most of the organizations are moving towards automation, business intelligence, and a lot more. Cloud computing has become a tool being used by many business organizations. It provides a way for businesses to manage their resources online. It allows the business entities to access their information virtually, whereby data can be accessed anytime and anywhere. Enterprises and SMEs are moving towards cloud computing. Just like a coin has two sides, cloud computing also has a positive impact and at the same time, some challenges are faced by the business entities. Since the pandemic, cloud technology has emerged as the biggest enabler for businesses. Cloud investment and adoption is rising across sectors. The growing demand for enhanced transparency, rising capital requirements and increasing focus on customer experience have compelled different industries to turn to the cloud.

Cloud computing helps in reducing the expenses of the company as resources are acquired only when they are needed and payment is made as per usage. The global cloud computing market size is expected to grow from $371.4 billion in 2020 to $832.1 billion by 2025, at a CAGR of 17.5% during the forecast period. Like any other technology, cloud technology continues to evolve too and newest trends keep cropping up. Cloud offers organizations the flexibility to scale up or down their resources and capacity based on the workload and pay only for the services that they use. Customers or users are free to decide about the services which they want to use and pay as per use. Also, users have the option to switch from

Gartner's top strategic predictions for 2022 and beyond

    #Jio #Gartner #Dunzo

Gartner’s top predictions explore three aspects of the lessons that business and IT leaders have learned during ongoing disruption and uncertainty – the push toward human centricity, the race to resilience and the ability to reach beyond expectations. The lesson of the pandemic has been to expect the unexpected and be prepared to move in multiple strategic directions at once. “Leaders that embrace options for workers, enhanced enterprise efficiency and accelerated transformation plans have greater resilience in dealing with change. Resilience, opportunity and risk have always been components of good business strategy, but today these issues hold new meaning. This year’s predictions embody how resilience must be built in more non-traditional ways, from talent to business modularity, while opportunity and risk must be viewed with a greater sense of urgency than ever before.”

By 2024, 40% of consumers will trick behavior tracking metrics to intentionally devalue the personal data collected about them, making it difficult to monetize and by 2024, 30% of corporate teams will be without a boss due to the self-directed and hybrid nature of work. By 2025, synthetic data will reduce personal customer data collection, avoiding 70% of privacy violation sanctions. By 2024, a cyberattack will so damage critical infrastructure that a member of the G20 will reciprocate with a declared physical attack. By 2024, 80% of CIOs surveyed will list modular business redesign, through composability, as the top 5 reasons for accelerated business performance. By 2025, 75% of companies will “break up” with poor-fit customers as the cost of retaining them eclipses good-fit customer acquisition costs. Through 2026, a 30% increase in developer talent across Africa will help transform it into a world-leading startup ecosystem, rivaling Asia in venture fund growth. By 2026, non-fungible token (NFT) gamification will propel an enterprise into the top 10 highes

    #ServiceNow #MeitY #PMModi

Global 5G Market will grow to $249.2 billion

The transformation to the 5G ecosystem is expected to witness 3–4 times faster growth rate than other connectivity transformations. The global 5G Services Market size will grow from $53 billion in 2020 to $249.2 billion by 2026, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 29.4% during the forecast period. This is primarily due to the rapid innovation in virtualization in the networking domain, coupled with the growing numbers of applications, which require a latent-free connection. The above factors have resulted in expected rapid adoption of 5G services, followed by a quick roll out of 5G services by other developing economies. Countries expected to launch 5G services at the earliest include the US, China, South Korea, Japan, the UK, and Germany. Countries with a strong 4G infrastructure are expected to be the early deployers with agile connectivity platforms in IoT are also expected to quickly transform their services into 5G, probably by 2020 Q1. A study suggests that as network orchestration tools maximise monetisation, next-generation infrastructures will grow at a staggering rate of 940% over the next five years.

The 5G networks leverage next-generation technologies, such as network orchestration tools, to enable operators to monetise data-intensive use cases, like remote healthcare and mobile gaming. The study, 5G monetisation: Business models, strategic recommendations and market forecasts 2021-2026, found that over 60% of global 5G connections will be located in the Asia Pacific region by 2026. Network orchestration technologies, alongside mmWave frequencies that enable data-intensive 5G services, will be a key driver in creating an ecosystem in this region that allows mobile subscribers to leverage 5G networks for emerging mobile services, while maintaining network performance. New IoT trends

IoT is forecasted to be a major disruptor in 2021. It is expected to reshape technology and business. IDC expects that global IoT spending will return high growth rates in 2021 and achieve a combined annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3% over the 2020-2024 forecast period. Today, millions of people have moved to remote work, putting themselves at risk of cyber-attacks due to a lack of effective cyber protection measures. As more and more employees move to remote work, cybersecurity specialists and IoT advocates are now developing new technologies and IoT-enabled security strategies to bridge this gap. AI continues to support the critical processes of companies and governments, helping to ensure uninterrupted delivery, social distancing, and even help accelerate understanding of the novel COVID-19 virus leading to an accelerated roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Specifically in eCommerce, research suggests that AI will enable organizations to market more effectively to their customers, based on behavioural data customers have exhibited through this massive economic shift due to COVID-19. To this point, AI-enabled IoT is projected to continue to accelerate business and foster new innovation in today’s new dynamic business landscape throughout 2021. Secondly, when we see how the trends are impacting in the areas of Industrial IoT or IIoT is defined as “Machines, computers, and humans enabling intelligent industrial processes using advanced data analytics for revolutionary business outcomes”. e-com growth in India

The e-commerce market in India has been witnessing high growth during the past few years. It continued to grow even during the COVID-19 pandemic as wary consumers preferred online channels for purchases. Against this backdrop, e-commerce sales are forecasted to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.2% between 2021 and 2025, to reach Rs. 8.8 trillion ($120.1bn) in 2025. According to GlobalData, e-commerce payments in India grew by 12.2% in 2020 and is estimated to register a growth of 16.8% to reach Rs 4.5 trillion ($61.5bn) in 2021.The COVID-19 pandemic has fast-tracked consumers’ transition to digital payments in most markets, a trend also seen in India. Rising consumer preference for online shopping, proliferation of e-retailers and emergence of new payment methods will continue to drive e-commerce growth in India.

E-commerce has transformed the way consumers shop in India, supported by increase in Internet and smartphone penetration, rise in digital literacy among consumers and government’s digital push. Over the past one year, despite a decline in consumer spending, economic slowdown and uncertainty caused by COVID-19, e-commerce sales continued to surge. While sectors such as travel and accommodation were affected due to lockdown and travel restrictions, a strong growth was seen in online purchases of retail goods such as grocery, electronics, and healthcare products. Leading e-commerce retailers Flipkart, Amazon and BigBasket have seen an increase in orders each month since the outbreak of the virus. To support non-cash payments, e-commerce companies are offering multiple digital payment options. For instance, in June 2021, Flipkart introduced quick response (QR) code-based payment for pay-on-delivery shipments, enabling consumers to switch from cash on delivery to UPI-enabled digital payment.

    #ITeS #covid #4g

Since last year, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way India and the world lived, shopped, conducted business, socialised, and even litigated. Indians are getting accustomed to virtual court hearings, online shopping, education, doctors’ consultations, and telemedicine galore. Everything in the world is moving towards ITeS, which increasingly requires faster data speed. In the last ten years, through 4G, the mobile app industry has advanced rapidly around services like video streaming, ridesharing, food delivery etc. Next, 5G will expand the mobile ecosystem to new sectors. As per a survey, during the H2 of 2020, the average Indian data consumption per month, the highest globally, is about 12 GB. It is likely to rise further to about 25 GB per month in the next five years, driven by affordable mobile broadband services, changing video viewing habits majorly due to Covid-19 Pandemic.

In the realm of the country’s technological innovations, 5G will further strengthen Digital India, Smart Cities and Smart Village missions for India. Smart cities could use 5G for automotive safety, infrastructure, VR, and entertainment. In domestic use, 5G would change home internet service by providing a wireless modem alternative to existing wires. The survey finds that the total number of mobile broadband subscriptions is set to exceed 1 billion by 2025. The number of smartphone subscriptions increased to 620 million in 2019 which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9%, reaching 1 billion by 2025. 5G networks offer to deliver significant social and economic benefits in India. Over the period 2023–2040, the experts forecast that 5G technologies will make a total contribution of approximately 450 billion dollars to the Indian economy -- 0.6% of GDP—by 2040.

India is one of the fastest-growing data centre markets in the world | Breaking News | IT News

    #datacentremarket #cagr

The India data centre market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8% over the forecast period 2021 to 2026. The rapid adoption of cloud-based business operations has encouraged businesses to acquire data management capacities to handle huge volumes of data that are being generated. Increased proliferation of online shopping due to the availability of user-friendly interfaces, high-speed internet, and smart devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. is expected to drive the market in the future. India’s data centre sector is probably one of the fastest-growing data centre markets in the world, and with the growing adoption of digital models across a wide range of businesses can lead to surge the demand for the data centres in India.

Given India’s rich network connectivity, cost advantage, availability of skilled labour, low climate risk and strong data protection laws, India is well-positioned to serve as a regional data centre hub in Asia-Pacific and is likely to attract significant investments. A report says, Data centres capacity in Mumbai, the country’s commercial capital, is likely to grow 2.65 times to 529 MW by 2023, said a JLL India report. The city is expected to add 330 MW in the next two years and Navi Mumbai is expected to account for 83% of these additions in the Mumbai region. India is increasingly seeing a big opportunity in edge data centres. Going forward, we will witness there are various Tier-II cities in the country to come out with edge data centres, will be located closer to the end-users and are on the edge of the network.

  • Digital transformation metamorphosizes business

    Digital transformation metamorphosizes business

    #digitaltransformation #newtechnology

New technologies shift consumer expectations, challenge norms, and put pressure on organizations to respond. Digital transformation is more critical now than ever. It is the holistic process by which an organization redefines and betters itself using the digital technologies which metamorphosize business and society at large. The biggest shift is to embrace digital completely and redefine the customer experience as a whole. Businesses today face a digital catch-22. Unless they succeed at digital transformation, they will become irrelevant. But digital transformation is costly, difficult and the required investment may be more urgently needed elsewhere in the short-term.

The coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the move to digital transformation as organisations responded to the need for staff to work from home, but as wider DX projects move into a higher gear, organisations should look to past failures to avoid making the same mistakes. The opportunity of DX lies in the fact that digital technology can now be applied to almost every aspect of business to enable greater speed and efficiency, but business leaders typically struggle to understand which opportunities to pursue and prioritise. In this hyper competitive market, medical technology companies are focusing heavily into accelerated product development while partnering with the best PaaS provider to help realize their overall digital transformation goals. Pharma 4.0 concepts are taking hold in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The industry's unique characteristics are driving investments in digital transformation by pharmaceutical manufacturers. A report states, digital factory revenue will top 4.5 billion dollars in 2030 with spending by pharmaceutical manufacturers on data analytics forecast to grow by a 27% CAGR and be worth 1.2 billion dollars in 2030, as manufacturers look to track, optimize their operations, and boost productivity.
