There is one problem with blind copying. Your track record may fail you. The BJP is an excellent example of this. When we spoke of women's empowerment BJP also started doing the same. But they forgot history, again.
It was the Congress which introduced the concept of rural self governance in India. Today, 1.2 million women are part of councils of rural self government. Under UPA, women's literacy increased to over 65%, maternal mortality came down by almost 10%. We brought the Anti-Rape Act, the Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act and the Domestic Violence Act.
While we were busy paving the way for progress of India's women, BJP was busy snooping on innocent women in Gujarat. Their ministers were caught shamelessly watching pornographic movies on their mobile phones during an Assembly session in Karnataka. A former BJP Minister from Karnataka was arrested for raping a woman.
Our next target is the Women's Reservation Bill. If it becomes a reality, BJP will be forced to give a fair representation to women in the States rules by it. At present, only two of nineteen ministers in Gujarat are women.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its prime ministerial candidate in particular harp on developmental but it is a nothing but a veil to conceal their real intention: pushing their divisive, communal agenda.
Shri Amit Shah, BJP general secretary and key aide of the party's prime ministerial candidate, revealed the true face of the BJP while addressing a rally in Muzaffarnagar. He said: "This election is about badla (revenge) and protecting izzat (honour)." During the rally Shah was accompanied by BJP legislator Suresh Rana, who is accused of instigating the Muzaffarnagar riots last year.
Shri Shah, incidentally, is out on bail in a fake encounter case.
There appears to be a hate-mongering competition underway in the BJP with Rajasthan Chief Minister Smt Vasundhara Raje joining the fray. "Let the elections get over and then we shall see who will be cut into pieces," said Smt Raje who holds the highest executive office in the state.
While its leaders are busy trying to inflame communal passions, the BJP is yet to release a manifesto of its proposed policies and programmes. This clearly shows where the BJP's priorities lie. "Muzaffarnagar mein unhone kaha 'badla lenge' yahi unka manifesto hai (In Muzaffarnagar they said that they will take revenge this is the BJP's manifesto)," said Congress spokesperson Raj Babbar.

He said that the claims made by BJP, about the Gujarat model of development, are questionable. "They talk about Gujarat shining, but that is not true of the poor in Gujarat. Rs.11 defines the poverty line, children are dying of malnutrition, and land has been taken away from farmers. This is the same party that opposed the Right to Food bill in the Parliament because they thought it meant waste of money", said Rahul Gandhi.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi claims that students from various countries used to come to India for higher studies, but now the situation is just the reverse. Modi says that now students from India go abroad for further studies. Modi talks about fixing the education system in the country however, in Gujarat where he has been the chief minister for the last 12 years paints a dismissal picture. Reality of Gujarat is only 27 % of class 6-8 students know division while the national average is at 39 %. Only 32% of class 3-5 students know subtraction while the national average is at 40 %. Addressing a public rally in Assam, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said the peace and prosperity the region has experienced in the last few years is because of UPA government and efforts of a Chief Minister like Tarun Gogoi. He said there are two types of leaders -- one who gives power to people, and the other who extracts power from people. Rahul Gandhi addressed a Public Rally in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on February 23, 2014. He praised the people of Uttarakhand for standing together in the aftermath of last year's massive natural disaster and said they had to remain united if they wanted to defeat the divisive forces and bring about changes in the country.
"Uttarkhand was one. The men and women here stood for the state after last year's disaster," he told a massive public rally at the Parade Ground, adding the armed forces should get the credit for relief work as they were in the forefront.

In the Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister is covered by the Lokayukta, he told the rally and also reminded them that Chief Minister in Gujarat was not under the purview of the Lokayukta.
