Google on Monday came out with an animated doodle to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the Earth Day.
Earth Day is observed every year on April 22 to create awareness among the masses on environmental issues.
Events are held across the world to sensitize people about the need to protect our environment.
John McConnell in 1969 at the UNESCO Conference in San Fransisco first proposed the idea to observe Earth Day on March 21. But a month later, Gaylord Nelso, US Senator from Wisconsin, proposed April 22 as the date for observing Earth Day.
Nelson was also a conservationist and an environmental activist and he pushed for Earth Day celebration as a national teach-in on environmental issues after the frightful oil spill off the coast in 1969.
Every year millions of people across the globe come together to celebrate the Earth Day.
Non-profit organizations, governments, schools and communities hold several interactive programmes and activities to create awareness about the need to protect environment.
The Earth Day 2013 doodle released by Google features a landscape and a static sun with a featured button inset inside.
When clicked on the doodle's featured button, the sun starts moving and gradually sets in the west.
As the sun sets, the moon rises in the glittering sky. The moon can be seen in different phases as it moves across the sky.

Bass became famous for his motion picture film posters, credit sequences and corporate logos.
Google on Wednesday celebrated the 93rd birthday of American graphic designer and filmmaker Saul Bass with one of its most elaborate Google Doodles till date.
The 1 minute 20 seconds doodle animates Google's logo in different styles, playing on the designer's best-known designs for film credits, film posters and corporate logos.
The video plays to the tunes of Unsquare Dance, a musical piece written by the American jazz composer Dave Brubeck.
Born on May 8, 1920, into an immigrant family in New York's Bronx, Bass started his career by working in print for film adverts in Hollywood during the 1940s.
A breakthrough came in the film industry when he was hired by Otto Preminger in 1954 to create an innovative title sequence for the credits of the film, Carmen Jones, which he did using an animated flaming rose.
He made a mark for himself in Hollywood after creating the title sequence for Otto Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm in 1955. Bass pioneered the concept of animated sequence for credit rolls in films.
Until the 1950s, the usual method for film credits was to present names and titles on cards, or against an unmoving backdrop.
During his prolific career spanning five decades, Bass had worked with directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Martin

Today Google wishes the most renowned and celebrated Russian writer and philosopher, Leo Tolstoy with a captivating and animated doodle. Considered as the master of realistic fiction, he was born on September 9th, 1828 in Yasnaya Polyana, the family estate in the Tula region of Russia.
The doodle is presented in the format of a slideshow with images taken from his most famous and eminent novels which earned him world wide recognition.
The slideshow doodle begins with an image of a bearded Tolstoy busy writing at his desk by candlelight before presenting scenes from his most famous works, including War and Peace, Anna Karenina and The Death of Ivan Ilyich.
Tolstoy's epic masterpiece War and Peace is one of the most widely acclaimed novels in the world and considered as one of the most important works of literature. It tells of the events surrounding France’s 1812 invasion of Russia and documents life in the Tsarist society of the Napoleonic years through the eyes of five Russian upper class families.
His other masterpiece Anna Karenina is a sensational romantic tragedy which follows the life of Anna Karenina when she has a life-changing affair with the dashing Count Alexei Vronsky set in the 19th century Russian high society.
His other notable works include: The Resurrection,Master and Man, Family Happiness, A confession along with a variety of short stories, plays and essays. Tolstoy breathed his

2016 was a year of ups and downs and like with every New Year's Eve, comes a special Google Doodle. One thing's for sure, this New Year's Eve doodle will clearly keep you waiting.
Heading over to the Google Search page shows five colourful and animated birds sitting on a branch waiting for an egg to hatch. Upon closer inspection it is obvious that they are all decked up to bring in the New Year when the egg with a 2016 sash cracks open.
But sadly that time is yet to come and while the birds grow anxious (and it is the same with us) Google keeps us busy by leading us to a Google Trends page from the link below the doodle.
Hitting the link takes us to the Google Trends page with plenty of things to keep you busy till the New Year arrives. And pretty much everything that you and your friends (and their friends) searched for is in there. From India's saddest moments to the Paris attacks to recently released Star Wars flick and the discovery of water on Mars and everything in between. Surely makes a great way to stay distracted as the New Year is just a couple of hours away.

To celebrate International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, Google has honoured workers across the world with a doodle in its homepage.
May 1 is a national holiday in more than 80 countries and celebrated unofficially in many other countries.
First May Day celebration in India was organised in Madras by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan on 1 May 1923. This was also the first time the red flag was used in India.
May Day is a nationwide bank and public holiday in India. The holiday is tied to labour movements for communist and socialist political parties. In Maharashtra and Gujarat, it is officially called Maharashtra Day (Maharashtra Din) and Gujarat Day respectively, since on this day in 1960 each attained statehood, after the old Bombay State became divided on linguistic lines.
In many countries, the working classes sought to make May Day an official holiday, and their efforts largely succeeded. The day has long been a focal point for demonstrations by various socialist, communist and anarchist groups.

Google is going all out on a limb to show its solidarity for the ongoing World Cup in Brazil, with doodles each day since the tournament began last week. On Monday, the search giant had unveiled the Mexican wave doodle. The latest to join the World Cup 2014 doodle bandwagon is the animal oracle Paul the Octopus, with a click showing results for the first match of the day, Belgium vs Algeria.
Tuesday's World Cup 2014 doodle depicts Paul sitting in the clouds with a halo on his head, trying to predict the winner of the Belgium vs Algeria match. The green and gold ball sits pretty in front of him, and Google is written in two parts on either sides of the cephalopod mollusc. A visibly confused Paul is seen scratching his head trying to predict the winner.
The subject of Tuesday's World Cup 2014 doodle was an animal celebrity during World Cup 2010. Paul the Octopus made several divinations with an aquarium keeper presenting him with food kept in two boxes marked with the flags of the respective teams playing on that particular day. The box from which he chose the food represented the winning team.
World Cup 2010's unofficial mascot Paul was also called Die Krake Paul, and become a national celebrity in Germany, when he had on the trot predicted the winner of the games that Germany played during the last World Cup. His name comes from a poem by Boy Lornsen called Der Tintenfisch Paul Oktopus (The Ink Fish, Paul Octopus). Clicking

She and her husband encouraged Johannes Brahms, and she was the first pianist to give public performances of some of Brahms' works, notably the Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel.
