These ten corporators were supporters of Mr. Sahu, Mr. Panda and Mr. Gantayat. They represented wards numbering 6, 7, 8, 20, 21, 29, 30, 33, 34 and 39.
These corporators sent their resignation letters to the PCC expressing their displeasure over the working of the party in Odisha.
Mr. Sahu, Mr. Panda and Mr. Gantayat are expected to join the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on April 4 during visit of party chief and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to Berhampur.

After 21 rounds of counting, Sahu polled 1,02,871 votes while BJP's Ashok Panigrahy was a distant second at 60,938 votes. Congress candidate Pranay Sahu was relegated to an also ran and secured 10,274 votes.
Hailing his party candidate’s victory, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the outcome of the polls would have an impact on the general elections in 2019.
The BJD won a staggering 56 per cent of the polled votes, while the BJP won 33.53 per cent and the Congress a mere 5.65 per cent, said Mr Majhi.
The Bijepur result assumes significance, particularly for the BJD, BJP and the Congress as it is seen as a precursor to the 2019 general elections.
The results proved that the popularity of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik remains intact despite an aggressive campaign by the BJP, which failed to capitalise on its advantages from the panchayat polls.

In Odisha, district of Bargarh has seen more union ministers, parliamentarians, MLAs, film stars, politicians than any poll in Odisha might have ever witnessed.
Odisha's two union ministers, Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, have led BJP's campaign in the district. Smriti Irani addressed three rallies. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik spent a night in the constituency during his hectic two-day schedule of rallies. This is the last bypoll in the state before the 2019 general elections.
The by-poll is necessitated due to death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu. BJD candidate Rita Sahu, Pranay Sahu of Congress and BJP's Ashok Panigrahi are in the fray. For the first time, Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines will be used in the Bijepur by-poll.
Counting for all the three assembly constituencies will be held on February 28.
