Terrorists shot dead a BJP councillor in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday night when he was visiting his friend's house in the Tral area of Pulwama district, officials said here. A group of three terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at BJP leader Rakesh Pandita around 10.15 pm, a police spokesperson said, adding that his friend's daughter also suffered injuries and was hospitalised in a critical condition. J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina condemned the death of BJP leader and said the 'martyrdom' of Pandita will not go in vain.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar on April 09 informed that two terrorists have also been killed in Tral area. One of the killed terrorists identified as Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind chief Imtiyaz Shah. The two terrorists took refuge in a hideout Kumar said. He also informed that five terrorists have been gunned down by the security forces in Shopian.

4 army personnel killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, days after attack
Four soldiers were killed in a gunfight between militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, days after a major attack in the district killed at least 40 CRPF personnel.
State police and Army launched a cordon and search operation overnight at Pinglan village in Pulwama district after a brief exchange of fire, according to a police spokesman.
At least two or three militants are believed to be trapped at the site.
At least 40 CRPF personnel were killed on Thursday when a Jaish militant a car filled with explosives into a convoy carrying jawans on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Lethpora of Pulwama district.
जम्मू-कश्मीर के पुलवामा में हुए आतंकी हमले के बाद से ही देश गुस्से में है. सरकार की ओर से खुली छूट मिलने के बाद सुरक्षाबलों ने घाटी में आतंकियों के खिलाफ एक्शन शुरू कर दिया है. सोमवार सुबह पुलवामा जिले में सुरक्षाबलों ने आतंकियों के खिलाफ ऑपरेशन छेड़ दिया है, इस एनकाउंटर में 2-3 आतंकियों को घेरा गया है. खबर है कि इस एनकाउंटर में 4 जवान शहीद हो गए हैं. शहीदों में मेजर रैंक का अफसर भी शामिल है.
पिछले तीन घंटे से कोई फ्रेश फायरिंग नहीं हुई है, हालांकि सर्च ऑपरेशन जारी है. बताया जा रहा है कि जो आतंकी घिरे हैं वह भी जैश-ए-मोहम्मद के ही हैं. ये सभी आदिल अहमद डार के साथी ही हैं. इस एनकाउंटर में एक स्थानीय नागरिक की मौत हो गई है.
ये मुठभेड़ पुलवामा जिले के पिंगलिना इलाके में चल रही है. इलाके को चारों ओर से घेर लिया गया है. ये एनकाउंटर सोमवार तड़के शुरू हुआ. घायल जवानों को एनकाउंटर वाले इलाके से निकाल कर श्रीनगर आर्मी हॉस्पिटल में भर्ती करा दिया गया है. एहतियात के तौर पर पुलवामा जिले में इंटरनेट बंद कर दिया है.
