नई दिल्ली। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने सोमवार को मुंबई की आरे कॉलोनी में पेड़ काटे जाने के मामले में बड़ा फैसला सुनाया है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने महाराष्ट्र सरकार को आदेश देते हुए पेड़ों की कटाई पर तुरंत रोक लगाने का आदेश दिया है। सुप्रीम कोर्ट का आदेश है कि पेड़ों की कटाई को तुरंत रोका जाए और आगे कोई भी पेड़ ना काटा जाए। सुप्रीम कोर्ट के इस आदेश पर महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने हामी भरी है।

Aarey Forest या यूँ कहें Aarey Colony के 2700 पेड़, इन्हें काटकर अब उत्तरी Mumbai में मेट्रो चलाई जाएगी। Bombay High Court (HC) ने 4 अक्टूबर को Aarey Forest काटने का आदेश दे दिया है। प्रगतिशील Bombay High Court ने पर्यावरण की जगह विकास को चुना। Bombay High Court ने NGO Vanashakti के जरिए Aarey Colony को जंगल घोषित करने के लिए दायर याचिका को खारिज कर दिया है । मुंबई प्रशासन Aarey Forest के सफाये के लिए इतना उतावला था कि 4 अक्टूबर की रात को पुलिस के भारी दस्ते के साथ उसके अधिकारी पेड़ काटने पहुँच गए। हालांकि, कुछ ही देर में वहां protest शुरू भी हो गया और मेट्रो रेल साइट पर जमकर नारेबाजी हुई लेकिन विरोध करती भीड़ पुलिस के डंडों के आगे ज़्यादा देर टिक नहीं पाई, उन्हें पुलिस ने हिरासत में ले लिया । लोगों का दावा है कि प्रशासन ने एक ही रात में 800 पेड़ काट भी दिए हैं। अभी तो पुनर्विचार याचिका Bombay High Court में दायर होनी थी या Supreme Court में जानी थी लेकिन लगता है प्रशासन आज ही मेट्रो चला कर ही रहेगा। आम लोगों से लेकर Bollywood सेलेब्स Bombay High Court के इस फैसले का विरोध कर रहे हैं।
