As we continue to accelerate towards an increasingly digitized world, the barracuda expert observes that the dominant targets are still five key industries: education, municipalities, healthcare, infrastructure and finance. Researchers also saw a spike in the number of service providers that have been hit with a #ransomware attack.
Ransomware attackers remain defiant and continue to operate their business with extended extortion attempts. As ransomware and other #cyberthreats continue to evolve, the need for adequate security solutions has never been greater.
As per the company source, while attacks on municipalities increased only slightly, the analysis showed that ransomware attacks on educational institutions more than doubled, and attacks on the healthcare and financial verticals tripled.
Many cybercriminals target small businesses to gain access to larger organisations. As a result, it is essential for security providers to create products that are easy to use and implement, regardless of a company’s size, said the report.
Most ransomware attacks don’t make headlines, though. Many victims choose not to disclose when they get hit, and the attacks are often sophisticated and extremely hard to handle for small businesses.

Chatbots on popular social media platforms are driving the business online. In Asia Pacific, spending via conversational commerce could reach $290 billion within four years. Personalization and emotional engagement allied to total convenience comprise the next frontier of customer experience (CX). Companies that give customers an emotional connection outperform their competitors by 85% , while 80% of customers say they are more likely to do business with a company if it offers personalized experiences. Conversational commerce, or C-commerce, is the fast-growing engagement tool that can deliver what today's consumers want. Going forward, Chatbots will Drive 50% of Consumer Spending by 2025. As per Juniper research, conversational commerce channels are going to facilitate spending of over $290 Billion Globally by 2025, up from $41 billion this year 2021. Recently, Walmart also just announced the acquisition of conversational commerce tech, underlying the importance for brands to create more ways to serve customers. Digital currencies can be divided into three categories, including Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) which are centralized and regulated by a nation’s central bank but have not yet developed in all geographies. The other two categories, Stablecoins which link to FIAT underlying currencies such as USD and EUR, along with native digital currencies – commonly known as cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ether, are both decentralized and more prevalent across markets. The underlying technologies of digital currencies, including blockchain, have matured to the point of mass distribution and uncertainty in markets and institutions further pushes the adoption of digital currencies as a payment method as well as investment hedge. Experts have welcomed the innovators of the country to be a part of Innovation Sandbox, as part of which anyone can apply to SEBI for accessing data available with the exchange and once a committee undergoes the application, data is provided, ensuring its usage in an ethical manner. Secondly, the importance of regulatory sandbox, saying that entities opting for regulatory sandbox are provided with a lot of relaxations from existing regulations. Sebi-registered entities are eligible for testing in the regulatory sandbox, the entity may apply either on its own or in partnership with any other entity. Sources said that it is a much smoother process for registering complaints through SCORES. The exchange records about 50,000 complaints annually and about 90% of complaints are registered online.
