Australian skipper Pat Cummins has confirmed Australia’s playing XI for the 2nd Ashes Test match which will be played at the Adelaide Oval. With right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood ruled out of the 2nd Test match with an injury, Jhye Richardson has been announced as his replacement.
Also, there was some uncertainty surrounding opener David Warner’s availability as he was suffering from a rib injury, but Cummins has confirmed that the left-hander will take the field for the 2nd rubber.
Another concern for Australia is that Hazlewood might still not be a confirmed starter for the Boxing Day Test match that will be played at Melbourne. Meanwhile, Michael Neser continues to wait in the sidelines. The 2nd Test will be a Day-Night affair and will be played with a Pink ball.
The 1st Test match was a totally one-sided contest, with the kangaroos absolutely decimating their arch-rivals inside 4 days. The England batters looked totally out of sorts, and apart from Joe Root and Dawid Malan, no other England batter could even score a half-century in the entire Test match.
And, Australia started their campaign in The Ashes with a crushing 9-wicket victory at The Gabba in Brisbane. It was a dominating performance by the hosts and a wonderful start for the kangaroos under their new leader Pat Cummins. Left-handed batter Travis Head won the Player of the Match award for his rollicking 152 in the 1st innings of the 1st Ashes Test match.
Meanwhile, Chris Silverwood, the England coach confirmed that fast bowling veterans James Anderson and Stuart Broad are fit and will be available for selection for the 2nd Test.

Alex Carey, who has already played 45 ODIs and 38 T20Is in national colours, is set to make his debut in the longest format. The southpaw has replaced Tim Paine, who has taken an indefinite break from cricket after the infamous sexting scandal.
Carey, however, has played 45 first-class matches where he has notched nearly 2500 runs with five centuries and 13 half-centuries. Pat Cummins, the Aussie Test skipper, said that it was a tough call to select one between Travis Head and Usman Khawaja before he picked the former. Khawaja, 34, will turn 35 later this month and he’s been in and out of the team for quite a while.
Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and skipper Cummins will take charge of the pace attack. Nathan Lyon remains their lone spin-bowling option. Head coach Justin Langer, in the meantime, on Saturday, talked about the pace trio’s preparations despite the wet ground conditions in Brisbane.

The much-anticipated Ashes series is scheduled to kick start from December 8. However, as per the recent turn of events, it is been reported that the first Test in Brisbane might get completely washed out. This threat emerged after adverse weather forecasts over the first four days.
The rain had affected England’s preparations ahead of the high-profile series. In Queensland last week, the side was able to play only 29 overs in their three-day game with their Lions side. As heavy storms hit Brisbane on Tuesday and Wednesday, no play was possible over the first two days of their intra-squad warm-up match as well.
The first Test of the series is staged for December 8 at the Gabba. The weather conditions have already left the Joe Root-led side short of match practice and if the early forecast proves right, it might also affect the first Test. Even severe rain is scheduled for the East Coast over the course of the Test match.
If the first Test gets washed out, it will also mean that England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes will also not get enough game time. He had previously taken an indefinite break from cricket to concentrate on his mental health and was also recovering from a finger injury. However, England might not be too upset if the first Test is washed out considering their record at the venue.
According to former India cricketer and now commentator Aakash Chopra, Royal Challengers Bangalore will aim to get Rahul Chahar in the mega auction. He also added that the franchise will break their bank in order to buy the leg spinner.

The players, who aren’t a part of the series against the Kiwis, were asked to go into quarantine in Mumbai. Now as per reports, the Indian board would name the squads irrespective of whether the tour gets underway or not.
