मेडिकल जर्नल रिसर्च स्क्वैयर में प्रकाशित अध्ययन में कैम्ब्रिज इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ थेराप्यूटिक इम्यूनोलॉजी एंड इंफेक्शियस डिजीज के वैज्ञानिकों के साथ भारत के अस्पताल और डॉक्टर भी सहयोगी रहे। अध्ययन के दौरान जब सभी स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों की स्थिति की समीक्षा की गई तो पता चला कि डेल्टा वैरिएंट की वजह से इनमें वायरल लोड भी काफी पाया गया। हालांकि वैक्सीन ने इन लोगों का मौत से बचाव किया।
डेल्टा वैरिएंट ने वैक्सीन का असर आठ गुना तक कम किया है। दिल्ली के सर गंगाराम सहित देश के तीन अस्पतालों को लेकर कैम्ब्रिज यूनिवर्सिटी के विशेषज्ञों का अध्ययन सामने आया है। इसमें भारत से 100 स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारियों को लिया गया था। जिनमें बी.1.617.2 डेल्टा वैरिएंट मिला है। यह सभी स्वास्थ्य कर्मचारी वैक्सीन की दोनों खुराक ले चुके थे लेकिन डेल्टा वैरिएंट की वजह से इनमें एंटीबॉडी का स्तर 80 फीसदी तक कम हुआ।

कोरोना वायरस के काफी म्यूटेशन सामने आए हैं जिनमें से कुछ गंभीर हैं। टीकाकरण के बाद भी इन गंभीर वैरिएंट से लोगों को नुकसान हो रहा है जिसके बारे में अध्ययन का निष्कर्ष है।
इस अध्ययन से यह भी पता चलता है कि पूरी तरह से टीकाकरण होने के बाद भी कोई व्यक्ति संक्रमण से सुरक्षित नहीं है। इसलिए टीकाकरण के बाद भी कोविड सतर्कता नियमों का पालन करना बहुत जरूरी है। उन्होंने बताया कि अध्ययन के दौरान वुहान स्ट्रेन की तुलना करने पर पता चलता है कि डेल्टा वैरिएंट काफी उच्च वायरल लोड की क्षमता रखता है। यह वुहान की तुलना में और ज्यादा लोगों को संक्रमित कर सकता है।

कोरोना वायरस के डेल्टा वैरियंट को लेकर विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने एक बार फिर चेतावनी दी है। इस बाद डब्लूएचओ के चीफ टेड्रोस अधनोम घेब्रेयेसस ने आगाह किया कि कोविड-19 का डेल्टा वैरियंट अबतक पाए गए सभी वैरियंट से सबसे अधिक संक्रामक है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि दुनियाभर के कम से कम 85 देशों में यह वैरियंट पाया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि डेल्टा वैरियंट उन लोगों में तेजी से फैल रहा है, जिन्होंने अभी तक कोरोना वैक्सीन नहीं लगवाई है।
