भाई-बहन के रिश्ते को और मजबूत बनाता है रक्षाबंधन व भाई दूज जैसे त्योहार। बता दें कि श्रद्धा और विश्वास का पर्व कहे जाना वाला भाई दूज हर साल कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष के दिन बड़े ही धूमधाम के साथ मनाया जाता है। इस खास दिन सारी बहनें अपने भाईयों के माथे पर तिलक लगाती हैं और साथ ही भगवान से अपने भाइयों की लम्बी आयु की भी कामना करती हैं।हमारे हिन्दू समाज में हर त्योहार को मनाने के पीछे कोई ना कोई कारण ज़रूर होता है और यह त्योहार जो भाई दूज का है वह स्नेह और सौहार्द का प्रतीक माना जाता है जो शुभ पर्व दीपावली के ठीक दो दिन बाद मनाया जाता है।भाई दूज त्योहार की क्या है परंपरा ,,इस दिन बहनें अपने भाई के लिए भूखे रहती है… अच्छे से तैयार होकर अपने प्यारे छोटे भाई या फिर भईया को तिलक लगाती है और उसकी लंबी उम्र की कामना करती है साथ ही छोटे भाई को उपहार भी देती है। बदले में भाई अपनी प्यारी बहन को हमेशा रक्षा करने का वचन देती है।
बता दें कि इस दिन भाई का अपनी बहन के घर भोजन करना बहुत शुभ माना जाता है।भाई दूज की पौराणिक कथाओं की मानें तो यमुना ने इसी दिन अपने भाई यमराज की लंबी आयु के लिए व्रत किया था और उन्हें अन्नकूट का भोजन खिलाया था। बता दें कि मिथिला नगरी में आज भी इस पर्व को यमद्वितीया के नाम से ही जाना जाता है। इस खास दिन की परंपरा कुछ इस प्रकार है –
• चावलों को पीसकर एक लेप भाईयों के दोनों हाथों में लगा दिया जाता है, हालांकि कुछ स्थानों में भाई के हाथों में सिंदूर भी लगाए जाते हैं।
