तिरुवरुर (तमिलनाडु) : कावेरी जल विवाद लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है। जिसके बाद कई जगह विरोध प्रदर्शन और बंद भी देखने को मिल रहा है। दरअसल, कावेरी डेल्टा संरक्षण आंदोलन ने सिंचाई के लिए पर्याप्त पानी जारी करने में कर्नाटक सरकार की विफलता के विरोध में बंद का आह्वान किया है। आपको बता दें कि कावेरी जल प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण ने कर्नाटक को 26 सितंबर तक 5,000 क्यूसेक कावेरी जल छोड़ने के लिए कहा था।

कावेरी जल बंटवारे को लेकर तमिलनाडु और कर्नाटक के बीच जारी विवाद थमने का नाम नहीं ले रहा है.पिछले दिनों हुई हिंसा में तमिलों पर हमले के विरोध में आज तमिलनाडु बंद है..बंद को सफल बनाने के लिए डीएमके समेत तमाम सियासी दल सड़क पर हैं... चेन्नई में भी डीएमके कार्यकर्ताओं ने प्रदर्शन किया है। यहां डीएमके की नेता कनिमोझी भी मौजूद रहीं। पुलिस ने कनिमोझी को हिरासत में ले लिया। साथ ही चेन्नई में ही प्रदर्शन कर रहे डीएमके नेता एमके स्टालिन को भी हिरासत में लिया गया है, जबकि MDMK चीफ वाइको को भी पुलिस ने हिरासत में लिया है। वहीं तमिलनाडु के किसानों ने सैदापेट रेलवे स्टेशन के पास पटरियों पर लेटकर प्रदर्शन किया। जिससे ट्रेनों का आवाजाही कुछ देर के लिए बंद रही...बंद का तमिलनाडु में व्यापक असर देखा जा रहा है. राजधानी चेन्नई समेत तमाम इलाकों में दुकाने, दफ्तर, स्कूल कॉलेज बंद दिख रहे हैं. स्थिति को देखते हुए तमाम इलाकों में पुलिसकर्मियों की तैनाती बढ़ा दी गई है...आपको बता दें कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कर्नाटक को 15 हजार क्यूसेक पानी तमिलनाडु को देने को कहा था. इसी मुद्दे को लेकर तमाम जगहों पर विरोध प्रदर्शन हुए. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 5 सितंबर को अपने आदेश में बदलाव करते हुए कर्नाटक से कहा कि वह 20 सितंबर तक तमिलनाडु को 12,000 क्यूसेक कावेरी का पानी दे. यह फैसला आने के कुछ ही घंटे बाद हिंसा शुरू हो गयी थी.

As the Cauvery water dispute heats up, several protestors set over 56 buses ablaze at KPN bus depot on Monday evening near Bengaluru.
A large number of people, including pro-Kannada activists, have been protesting against Supreme Court’s order to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu.
One person died in police firing while one got seriously injured after violence broke out in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka.
Curfews have been imposed in several areas and bus services to Tamil Nadu have been suspended.
State government has imposed section 144 and has also assured the Tamil Nadu government that it will safeguard Tamils in the state.

As the Cauvery water dispute heats up, acts of violence are being reported in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Naam Tamilar Katchi party workers in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu vandalised a bus from Karnataka and threatened its driver. A Kannadiga eatery was attacked with petrol bombs in Chennai’s Royapettah on Monday. Miscreants hurled crude petrol bombs damaging the glass doors of New Woodlands Hotel.
The attack comes day after a video showing a Tamil Nadu youth being assaulted by a group in Karnataka went viral on social media.
Incidents of violence have been reported in Karnataka as well.
Protests over Supreme Court’s order to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu were witnessed in Karnataka.
Supreme Court, in its new judgement, has asked people not to take law into their hands.
According to reports, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will write to Jayalalithaa after attacks on hotel and buses linked to Cauvery row.

Protestors in Karnataka are raising their voice against Supreme Court’s order to release 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Schools and colleges in Mandya district have been ordered to remain close for two days as the protests have aggravated in the district.
Jai Karnatak activists vandalized the PWD office and raised slogans against Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa.

Supreme Court on Tuesday has directed Karnataka to release 6000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu daily from Wednesday till September 27 which happens to be the next date of hearing. The apex court had on September 5 had ordered 15,000 cusecs daily for ten days. Later modified its order, the court had asked Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs till September 20. Soon after the development, sporadic protests were reported from different places, especially in Mandya district, the epicentre of the Cauvery agitation, where protesters blocked the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.

The Cauvery water release to Tamil Nadu on the orders of the Supreme Court has led to massive eruption of violence on the streets of Bengaluru and Mysuru. Shops and vehicles of Tamil Nadu are being attacked and set on fire. Karnataka has stopped bus services to Tamil Nadu and police jeeps were positioned along the border to warn vehicles against entering that state. Schools and colleges have also been shut in Bengaluru and metro services have been stopped as a precaution.

Complying with the Supreme Court direction, Karnataka government released Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu and will continue to do so for the next ten days.
After an all party meeting, chief minister Siddaramaia said that the govt has decided to abide by Supreme court ruling, however the state would also approach the apex Court with a modification petition explaining its difficulties in implementing the court order, directing release of 15,000 cusecs per day to Tamil Nadu for next ten days.

Following a Supreme Court order on the release of Cauvery river water to neighbouring Tamil Nadu a large-scale protest has broken out on the highway connecting Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. . Protesters have burnt tyres and blocked a major highway in Karnataka. Karnataka State Road Transport has pulled off 700 buses from the road. The shutdown has been called in Mandya in southern Karnataka - the volatile heartland of the Cauvery basin - by farmers who are protesting the Supreme Court order in which the court had ordered Karnataka to release 15,000 cusecs every day to Tamil Nadu for 10 days.
