U.S. Drops 'Mother of All Bombs' on ISIS Tunnels in Afghanistan

The U.S. dropped the GBU-43, known as MOAB—short for Massive Ordnance Air Blast, or, colloquially, Mother of All Bombs in Nangarhar province in Afghanistan. The bomb weighs more than 21,000 lbs. and is the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used in combat.

The MOAB is the largest non-nuclear, non-penetrating bomb in the US arsenal with an explosive force equal to 11 tons of TNT. It was dropped on a cave complex used by the Afghanistan branch of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on Thursday, the Pentagon said.
