The new points system for qualifying horses for the Kentucky Derby appears to have served its purpose. The race is full of horses with the preferred pedigree and running style to handle the distance. While this has served to restore some purity to the race, it has also made the race tougher to handicap because many of the horses now excluded by the points system were easy toss-outs for handicappers. This field of 20 is very even. A case could be made for every one of them to win.
Orb was made the morning-line favorite, in a bit of a surprise, over Verrazano, who many thought would be made the favorite after remaining perfect in the Wood Memorial. In that race, Verrazano got the job done, but appeared to show some distance limitations, giving up ground to Vyjack and Normandy Invasion in the deep stretch. Verrazano is expected to try to win the Derby on the lead, and there will be horses that attempt to keep up with him in the early going. He will be challenged. Orb likes to come off the pace, so he could well be the one to chop down Verrazano in the stretch. He has been training well at Churchill Downs and looks great. He also comes into the Derby on four straight wins.

The forecast for the remainder of the day for the Kentucky Oaks should be mostly cloudy with a chance of an isolated to scattered shower later this afternoon. The post time for the Kentucky Oaks race is at 5:45 p.m. EDT, there could be scattered rain showers and even some thunderstorms. Temperatures this afternoon and evening will be in the low to mid 70s.
Scattered showers will continue overnight and rain will be increase as we go through out the morning Saturday. The rain is expected to last most if not all day. This will cause sloppy, muddy conditions for the 139th Kentucky Derby. It is possible that Churchill Downs receives between a quarter to a half an inch of rain by the time the Derby actually takes place at 6:24 p.m. EDT.
Saturday's weather forecast is for cloudy skies and off and on rain showers. Some of these showers will be heavy and steady especially from midday into the afternoon. Temperatures will also be chilly with nearly steady temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. The wind will be out of the east between 5 and 15 mph. सोमवार को वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण के अध्यक्षता में GST काउंसिल की अहम बैठक का आयोजन किया गया.. इस बैठक में मुख्य रूप से दो मुद्दों पर चर्चा होनी थीं…. हेल्थ इंश्योरेंस पर जीएसटी की दरें कम करने, और 2000 रुपये से कम के ऑनलाइन (डेबिट और क्रेडिट कार्ड से) ट्रांजेक्शन पर 18% जीएसटी लगाने का मामला था…. फिलहाल इंश्योरेंस प्रीमियम सस्ता होने नहीं जा रहा है, क्योंकि इस मसले पर अंतिम फैसला अगली बैठक तक के लिए टाल दिया गया है…
