JAMMU LINKS NEWS | IkkJutt Jammu, a newly floated organisation, on Friday described Article 35-A of the Constitution an instrument of creating a "Muslim State" on the territory of India and said it must be abrogated.
"I hope that the Supreme Court of India will take notice of this reality sooner or later and declare it unconstitutional, null and void," IkkJutt Jammu Chairman Ankur Sharma here told reporters.
He said that if India has to remain a democracy based on the right to equality and secular polity where all religious are equal, then abrogation of Article 35-A is an imperative.
"Article 35-A has created a polity where all the Non-Muslims in J&K become second class subject people and females become subservient to male dominance," he said.
"Article 35-A is brazenly a subversive process of the Constitution of India and renders Indian Democracy redundant," said Sharma, adding that Article 35-A is a testimony of the grim reality that Indian Constitution can be amended without the consent of the Parliament.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Protests against the legal challenge to Article 35A of the Constitution -- which grants special status to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir -- continued in the Valley for the third consecutive day today.
In Srinagar, moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led a march from the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta till Gojwara, a police official said.
The protests took place at several places across Kashmir today, a police official said, adding that the demonstrations remained peaceful.
Another protest march -- led by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yasin Malik -- was taken out after prayers near Bund here, he said.
Protest marches were also taken out near 'Dastageer Sahib' shrine in Khanyar, in Parimpora, Lal Bazar, near Mehjoor Park in Pantha Chowk and Maisuma areas of the city. The protests rocked Kangan and Sonamarg areas of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, as well as in Bandipora town of north Kashmir, the official said.

JAMMU LINKS NEWS | Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Friday led a peaceful protest march here in support of Article 35A which has been challenged in the Supreme Court.
After the congressional Friday prayers at a mosque near the Residency Road, Malik led a protest march to defend Article 35A.
Article 35A was promulgated on May 14, 1954 by a presidential order, giving the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature the power to define residents of the state and also their privileges.
The validity of the article has been challenged in the Supreme Court. The petition seeking abrogation of Article 35A is listed for hearing on August 6 in the apex court.
The protest march on Friday was part of the separatist joint resistance leadership's (JRL) decision to oppose what the JRL calls "the planned abrogation of Article 370" of the Indian constitution that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
"We are ready to defend Article 35A with our blood," Malik told reporters while leading the protest march.
