'ઉલટા ચોર કોટવાલકો ડાટે' આ કહેવત સુરત મહાનગર પાલિકાના વરાછા ઝોન માટે સાચી પડી છે કારણ કે વરાછા ઝોનનું ટેરેસ ગંદકીથી ખદબદી રહ્યું છે. જે હાલત અત્યારે વરાછા ઝોનના ટેરેસની છે એવી હાલત કોઈ સમાન્ય વ્યક્તિના ટેરેસની હોત તો મહાનગરપાલિકાના આરોગ્ય વિભાગના અધિકારીઓ મોટા દંડની રસિદ આપીને ચાલ્યા ગયા હોત. વરાછા ઝોનના ટેરેસને મહિનાઓથી સાફ ન કરવામાં આવ્યું ન હોય તે રીતે ટેરેસ પર જમા થયેલા પાણીમાં લીલના પોપડા જામી ગયા છે અને કેટલાક છોડ પણ ગંદા પાણીમાં ઊગી ગયા છે.
આ મામલે અગત્યની વાત તો એ છે કે, જે જગ્યા પર પાણી ભરાયું છે તે જ જગ્યા પર ઇલેક્ટ્રીક સપ્લાયની પેટીઓ લગાડવા આવી છે. જો આ ગંદા પાણીના કારણે કોઈ પણ પ્રકારનું શોર્ટ સર્કિટ થાય તો તેની જવાદદારી કોની? સુરત મહાનગરપાલિકાના કમિશનરની, વરાછા ઝોનના અધિકારીની કે પછી આરોગ્ય વિભાગની? ઉલ્લેખનીય છે કે, મોટી સંખ્યામાં લોકો પોતાના કામ કરાવવા માટે વરાછા ઝોનની મુલાકાતે આવતા હોય છે. આ ઝોનના ટેરેસ પર થયેલી ગંદકીના કારણે ઝોનની મૂલાકાતે આવતા લોકોનું આરોગ્ય પણ જોખમમાં છે. વરાછા ઝોનના ટેરેસ પર રહેલી ગંદકી મામલે Khabarchhe.comની ટીમ દ્વારા વરાછા ઝોનના આરોગ્ય વિભાગના અધિકારીને પૂછતા તેઓ આ મામલે કોઈ જવાબ આપી શક્યા ન હતા.

આગામી દિવસોમાં સુરત મહાનગર પાલિકા સુરતમાં અલગ અલગ વિસ્તારમાં 19 સ્થળો પર મલ્ટી લેવલ પાર્કિંગ બનાવવા માટેનો કોન્ટ્રાક્ટ આપવા જઈ રહી છે. પાર્કિંગ બાબતે વર્ષોથી આપવામાં આવતા કોન્ટ્રાક્ટોની સૌથી મોટી ખામી એ છે કે, કોઈપણ વ્યક્તિ 10-15 મિનિટ મહાનગર પાલિકા સંચાલિત પાર્કિંગમાં પોતાનું વાહન પાર્ક કરે તો તે વ્યક્તિને મિનિમમ ચાર્જ ચૂકવવો પડે છે. સુરત મહાનગર પાલિકા આપણે આપેલા ટેક્સના પૈસે રોડ અને પાર્કિંગ બનાવે છે, તો પછી માત્ર થોડા સમય માટે પાર્ક કરાયેલા વાહન માટે પણ આપણે પૈસા કેમ આપવા પડે છે. સુરત મહાનગર પાલિકા દ્વારા 30 મિનિટ પાર્કિંગ ફ્રી આપવા બાબતે રાજકીય પક્ષના લોકો, સામાજિક સંસ્થાના લોકો અને સુરતની જનતા શું કહે છે તે જાણવા જુઓ વીડિયો.
