According to Palo Alto Networks report, 67% of essential services in India witnessed more than 50% disruptive cyberattacks in 2022-2023. This is a significant increase from the previous year, when only 45% of essential services experienced such attacks.
The result was found after with 200 Indian IT decision-makers, CTOs, CIOs, and Senior Directors were surveyed to understand the state of cybersecurity in India. The respondents belonged to sectors such as Banking & Finance, Essential Services, Telco/Tech/Communications, Retail/Hotel/F&B, Transport & Logistics, and Manufacturing.

Salesforce conducted a survey across the industries to understand the insights on how customers are adopting digital. There were 4,000 commerce practitioners across 25 counties, including 200 from India, as well as analysis of buying data from over 1 billion customers across 54 countries, on how B2B and B2C companies are adapting to a digital-first customer engagement landscape.
It found that sales have grown 44% between first quarter 2020 and Q1 of 2022 at business-to-consumer companies, and 95% at business-to-business companies.
However, e-commerce sites are the tip of the iceberg as sellers race to meet customer expectations for new buying options. Respondents from India expect an average of 48% of revenue to come from digital channels within two years.
The rise of #cryptocurrency as a payment option is forecasted to soar in the coming years. In the meantime, mobile wallets and installment plans are seeing a big boost, Salesforce said in the report. About 71% respondents in India accept at least one mobile wallet option at checkout.
Also, with bottom-lines stretched by inflation — and third-party cookies being depreciated — commerce organisations are focused on putting customer data to work to drive efficiency and profitability. About 62% of respondents say automation will be a priority over the next two years.

There are attacks targeting telecommunications and retail more than doubled in the past year. A report highlights an explosion in adversary activity, both in volume and velocity. CrowdStrike’s threat hunters tracked a 60% increase in attempted intrusions spanning all industry verticals and geographic regions. The report also showcases a significant drop in average breakout time – the time it takes for an intruder to begin moving laterally outside of the initial beachhead to other systems in the network – of just one hour 32 minutes, a threefold decrease from 2020. These sobering statistics show how threat actors are constantly adapting tactics, techniques, and procedures to accelerate their march toward their objectives.
The report further highlights:
Adversaries have moved beyond malware. They are using increasingly sophisticated and stealthy techniques tailor-made to evade detections.
China, North Korea and Iran were the most active state-sponsored groups. The report reveals the majority of targeted intrusion activity from adversary groups were based out of China, North Korea, and Iran.
A massive surge in interactive intrusion activity targeting the telecommunications industry. This activity spans all major geographic regions and has been tied to a diverse range of adversaries.
WIZARD SPIDER was the most prolific cybercriminal. In fact, this group was seen in nearly double the number of attempted intrusions than any other eCrime group. WIZARD SPIDER is behind targeted operations using Ryuk and, more recently, Conti ransomware.
A 100% increase in instances of cryptojacking in interactive intrusions year-over- year, correlating with increases in cryptocurrency prices.
