राजनैतिक पक्षपात से अलग हटकर अपने अपने इलाकों में ये मतदाता मित्र लोगों को ज्यादा से ज्यादा मतदान करने के लिए ही प्रेरित नहीं करेंगे बल्कि सही उम्मीदावर और योग्य उम्मीवार का चयन करने की भी अपील करेंगे| नयी दिल्ली के कॉन्स्टिच्यूट क्लब में आयोजीत इस संगोष्टी में बड़ी संख्या में पत्रकार , बुद्धिजीवी , वकील , और अलग अलग अलग एनजीओ से जुड़े लोग बड़ी संख्या में मौजूद थे| इस मौके पर डॉ एस. वाई. कुरैशी ने चुनाव सुधार से लेकर चुनाव आयोग और भारत के लोकतंत्र की खासियत और खामियों को सामने रखा|
इस संगोष्टी में चुनाव सुधार व लोकतांत्रिक विकास के लिए किये गए कार्यों के लिए जगदीप छोकर को भारतीय मतदाता मित्र सम्मान दिया गया ( विसुअल लगाएं )| श्री एस.वाई. कुरैशी और श्री जगदीप छोकर ने इस विषय पर अपने विचार और अनुभव सांझा किये| दोनों के संबोधन का सार यही था की ज्यादातर राजनैतिक दलों को चुनाव सुधार की कोइ परवाह नहीं है| जिन दलों के पास चुनाव सुधार की जिम्मेदारी है वे ही कानून बदलने और बनाने की बजाये टाल मटोल कर रहे है| अबतक जो भी चुनाव सुधार की दिशा कुछ कदम आगे बढे है तो वह कोर्ट के ही निर्देश पर हुयें है|
