Compared to Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Software-defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN), which is a combination of a software-defined network (SDN) and a wide-area network (WAN) was designed to enable network administrators to respond quickly to changing business requirements via a centralized interface, which is less expensive, more secure, and provide higher performance. MPLS can have steep bandwidth costs, while SD-WAN protects your network from vulnerabilities that MPLS cannot. SD-WAN offers businesses greater independence and flexibility in their data transport methods. This virtualized WAN allows a company to take advantage of any transport protocol, including 3G, 4G LTE, MPLS, Internet and provides a seamless on-ramp to the cloud with significant application performance especially for critical applications without sacrificing security and data privacy. It is also true that SD-WAN is able to use existing infrastructure and augment with provided services. It works together with MPLS technology and addresses some of the limitations of MPLS. Vendors have been trying to break through for years despite claims that most of the world is moving to SD WAN, but most of the world has very definitely not. SD WAN has so far been adopted mainly by large global enterprises with huge IT teams and large international MPLS savings to be made. The SD-WAN market is exploding alongside the growth of edge computing and digital transformation. Experts recommend SD-WAN to be integrated with SASE.

A new study has found that the total number of 5G connections will reach 3.2 billion by 2026; rising from 310 million in 2021. To maximise the monetisation of this significant growth in connections, it predicts that operators will accelerate investment into standalone 5G networks to best position their services to manage future capacity. Standalone 5G networks leverage next-generation technologies, such as network orchestration tools, to enable operators to monetise data‑intensive use cases, like remote healthcare and mobile gaming. The new study from Juniper Research says, identified automating network orchestration tools as a key priority for operators in monetising their 5G services. These tools allow operators to adapt network conditions based on AI analysis of traffic; providing more bandwidth to connections that need it, and maintaining service performance. Operators in China, Japan and South Korea have all implemented lower subscription costs, which have accelerated 5G adoption, thus enabling these subscribers to explore novel services that require 5G connectivity. By 2026, the report predicts that the average revenue per 5G smartphone connection will fall to $17 globally, from $29 in 2021; significantly impacting operator revenue. To alleviate this decline, it recommends that operators leverage orchestration tools to retain a network’s highest throughput and lowest latency for connections that require it. By utilising this approach, operators can justify charging a premium to these prioritised connections over other 5G connections, and slow this declining average revenue.

It is absolutely true that technology will be the primary driver of investments worldwide over the next five years and more. India is now aiming to evolve into a $5 trillion economy and technology-driven startups are going to play a crucial role in achieving this goal. With over half a billion internet subscribers, India—one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing markets for digital consumers—is at the cusp of a digital revolution. When we see the data points, At the state level, Maharashtra has the highest penetration of active Internet users at 61 percent, followed by Goa at 60 percent and Kerala at 59 percent. Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar have the lowest Internet population at 29 percent, 29 percent, and 24 percent, respectively. There is emphasis on digital technologies and start-ups cutting across sectors-–from agriculture and education to post offices, banking and more. The number of active Internet users in India is expected to increase by 45% in the next five years and touch 900 million by 2025.
This increase will be driven by higher adoption in rural India, which has clocked a 13% growth to 299 million internet users over the past year, or 31% of India’s rural population, a report said. Meta is working on artificial intelligence research to generate worlds through speech, improve how people chat to voice assistants and translate between languages, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, as he sketched out key steps to building the metaverse. Zuckerberg is betting that the metaverse, a futuristic idea of virtual environments where users can work, socialize and play, will be the successor to the mobile internet. The key to unlocking a lot of these advances is AI. Meta introduced ‘BuilderBot’ – “a new tool to fuel creativity in the metaverse using voice commands.” Another development is ‘No Language Left Behind’ – a system that translates all written languages. It has the ability to communicate with anyone in any language is a superpower that was dreamt of forever and it would instantly provide speech-to-speech translations for all languages. Project ‘CAIRaoke’ is the next conversational AI improvement for more fluid conversations between people and chatbots or virtual assistants. Sources said, Meta is currently building the world’s most powerful and fastest AI supercomputer.

A super-app is a mobile or web application that can provide multiple services including payment and financial transaction processing, effectively becoming an all-encompassing self-contained commerce and communication online platform that embraces many aspects of personal and commercial life. Precisely, it is a one-stop portal or application that allows users to access numerous services in one place. In other words, it is a singular platform developed by a company that offers multiple services under one roof. It is the technological equivalent of a shopping mall. We use payment apps to transfer money, entertainment apps to consume content, and weather apps to check the temperature. However, super-apps have emerged in other parts of the world and are even starting to gain a foothold in the West — whether we realize it or not. Super-apps cover multiple verticals and create a “one-stop-shop” app where users can complete many different tasks. Put simply, super-apps combine multiple different services into one app. The unique selling point of a super-app that centralizes many functions is that you can complete multiple tasks or actions in one place. You don’t have to switch between programs or providers to get things done.
The SuperApp is more than just a platform-based business model. Going forward, it is expected to cover at least 40-50% of online transactions made by a large customer segment. Learning from the Chinese Technology conglomerate Tencent’s WeChat and Alibaba’s Alipay, in India business houses including Adani Group, Reliance Industries Ltd. Employees rethinking on Return-to-office plans
The coronavirus pandemic has sped up a transition into more flexible and diverse working hours around the world, opening up ways of working that were unthinkable just a few years ago. Now with the growing concerns of Omicron variant of the virus, companies are struggling to understand how the variant is going to impact the employees to start travelling to office and they are reviewing to consider different permanent work models for their employees as the coronavirus pandemic, and the spread of the Omicron variant, destabilize their latest return-to-office plans. Countries moved swiftly this week to impose bans or tougher testing rules on travel after the Omicron variant was first uncovered in southern Africa. The World Health Organization said as more countries reported cases, the new COVID-19 variant carries a "very high" global risk of surges. Scientists have said it could take weeks to understand its severity, although early indications were that most cases were mild. The prospect of a fast-spreading variant has raised fears of a return of the sort of restrictions that shut down a swath of industries in 2020. Alphabet Inc's Google was indefinitely delaying its return-to-office plan around the world. Google in August had said it would expect workers to come in about three days a week from Jan’ 10 at the earliest, ending its voluntary work-from-home policy. Google was one of the first companies to ask its employees to work from home during the pandemic. It has about 85 offices across nearly 60 countries.
