Many vehicles parked on the roadside have been buried under the debris. Landslides have caused damage at many places. Vehicles have been damaged by the debris of the under-construction four-lane in Shurala.

Chennai Rains: Rescue Operations Underway | Catch News
Incessant rains have battered Chennai and parts of Tamil Nadu. Rescue operations are underway in affected areas. “Teams have come from Pudukkottai, Salem, Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur. Around 150 personnel have come to Chennai for rescue operations,” said Fire Station Officer Senthil Rajkumar. At least 12 people have died due to heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu.

Heavy rains on Tuesday lashed parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, and neighbouring Puducherry, disrupting flight movement and leaving several areas inundated.
The picture looks no better for Wednesday with the weather office forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall for Tamil Nadu, especially over the northern districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram.
It also forecast heavy rains for Puducherry.

Rains on Friday continued to batter several parts of Tamil Nadu under the influence of an active North-East monsoon as the toll in rain-related incidents in the state stood at 48. Normal life was thrown out of gear with heavy rains pounding Chennai, suburbs and neighbouring districts since Thursday night. Arterial roads including Anna Salai, Poonamallee High Road and GST Road in the city came under sheets of water hitting vehicular movement. The inundation in the downtown areas around Fort St George, Chennai Central Railway Station, Office of the Commissioner of Police and Kilpauk was heavy.
