    The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Tejas Mk-I is all set to achieve Initial Operational Clearance-2 on December 20. Forget the critics, this combat jet is now all set to be flown by serving pilots of the Indian Air force (IAF) who are going to miss the Mig-21 FL a lot less once they get their hands on this baby.

    As Defence Minister A K Antony watched from under a shamiyana overlooking the runway, two Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) came screaming, bombs and missiles fitted under wings, lifting effortlessly into the sky. As the fighters quickly faded into specks and then out of sight, hundreds of spectators watched two giant projector screens that played out video being transmitted live from the pilots' cockpits.

    As the pilots positioned for their air-to-ground attack mission, the commentator revealed their target — the spectators' shamiyana. The screen showed the view from the pilot's head-up display (HuD) as he locked his navigation-attack system onto the target. Even as both fighters simulated a successful bomb release, a third Tejas closed in behind them. This was a friendly fighter on an air-to-air mission, tasked to shoot down the intruders. The projector screens switched to the pilot's helmet mounted display system (HMDS), which allows him to aim his weapons merely by looking at the target. In seconds, the intruders were in the "no-escape zone" of his R-73 air-to-air missiles. Mission accomplished!

    ശബ്ദത്തേക്കാള്‍ വേഗത്തിലുള്ള വിമാനയാത്രകള്‍ വരും വര്‍ഷങ്ങളില്‍ സാധാരണമാകുമെന്ന് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കായുള്ള ബൂം എന്ന കമ്പനിയുടെ ഗവേഷണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് 100 മില്യണ്‍ ഡോളറാണ് നിക്ഷേപമായി ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ശബ്ദത്തിന്റെ ഇരട്ടി വേഗത്തില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന 55 യാത്രക്കാരെ വഹിക്കുന്ന വിമാനം നിര്‍മിക്കുകയാണ് ബൂം.
    ലണ്ടനില്‍ നിന്നും ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്കിലേക്ക് മൂന്നര മണിക്കൂറുകൊണ്ട് പറന്നെത്താനാകുമെന്നതാണ് ഈ സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യേകത.
    നിലവില്‍ വിമാനയാത്രക്കെടുക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഇരട്ടിവേഗമാണിത്. 8336 കിലോമീറ്റർ വരെ നിര്‍ത്താതെ പറക്കാനും ഇവക്കാകും. മുന്‍ ആപ്പിള്‍ മേധാവി സ്റ്റീവ് ജോബ്‌സിന്റെ വിധവ ലോറന്‍സ് പവ്വല്‍ അടക്കമുള്ളവരാണ് ബൂമിന്റെ പുതിയ നിക്ഷേപകര്‍.
    നിലവിലെ ബിസിനസ് ടിക്കറ്റിന്റെ നിരക്കില്‍ സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് യാത്ര സാധ്യമാക്കാകുകയാണ് ബൂമിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം.
    പ്രകൃതിക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായ ഇന്ധനങ്ങള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് മലിനീകരണം പരമാവധി കുറക്കാനും ശ്രമിക്കുമെന്നും ഇവര്‍ പറയുന്നു.
    ഇവര്‍ നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് വിമാനത്തിന് പരമാവധി മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 2335 കിലോമീറ്ററായിരിക്കും വേഗം. ശബ്ദത്തിനു മണിക്കൂറില്‍ 1236 കിലോമീറ്ററാണ് വേഗം.
    170 അടി നീളമുള്ള വിമാനത്തിന്റെ ചിറകുകളുടെ വീതി 60 അടിയായിരിക്കും. രണ്ട് പൈലറ്റുമാര്‍ അടക്കം നാല് പേരായിരിക്കും വിമാനത്തിലെ ജീവനക്കാര്‍.
    55 യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്കുവേണ്ടി രണ്ട് ശുചിമുറികളും വിമാനത്തിലുണ്ടാകും.
    നിലവില്‍ ശബ്ദത്തേക്കാള്‍ 2.2 ഇരട്ടി വേഗത്തില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കാനാകുന്ന XB-1 എന്ന വിമാനത്തിന്റെ നിര്‍മാണത്തിലാണ് ബൂം. ഈ വര്‍ഷം അവസാനത്തോടെ XB-1 പറന്നുയരുമെന്നാണ് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്.
    ബൂമിന്റെ സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇപ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ ആവശ്യക്കാരേറിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. വിര്‍ജിന്‍ ഗ്രൂപ്പും ജപ്പാന്‍ എയര്‍ലൈന്‍സും 30 സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് ജെറ്റുകളാണ് നിര്‍മിക്കും മുൻപെ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്.
    പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച പോലെ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നടന്നാല്‍ 2023ല്‍ ബൂമിന്റെ സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ ആകാശം കീഴടക്കും.
    വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കകം 2000 സൂപ്പര്‍സോണിക് ബൂം വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ 500ഓളം റൂട്ടുകളില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുമെന്ന

    Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday flew in the Tejas fighter aircraft from the HAL airport in Bengaluru, becoming the first defence minister to fly in the indigenously-built light combat aircraft (LCA). Wearing a G suit, the minister buckled himself in the seat behind the pilot in the aircraft. He was accompanied by Air Vice Marshal N Tiwari, who is also the Project Director, National Flight Test Centre, ADA (Aeronautical Development Agency) in Bengaluru.

    IAF releases proofs of shooting down Pakistan's F-16 fighter jet

    The Indian Air Force reiterated Monday that it has 'irrefutable proof' of downing Pakistan's F-16 aircraft on February 27, 2019, but also that it was shot down by a MiG-21 'Bison' flown by Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. "There is no doubt that two aircraft went down in the aerial engagement on February 27. one of which was the 'Bison' of IAF while the other was a F-16 of Pakistan Air Force conclusively identified by its electronic signature and radio transcripts," pointed out the Air Vice Marshal.

    IAF releases proofs of shooting down Pakistan's F-16 fighter jet

    The Indian Air Force reiterated Monday that it has 'irrefutable proof' of downing Pakistan's F-16 aircraft on February 27, 2019, but also that it was shot down by a MiG-21 'Bison' flown by Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. "There is no doubt that two aircraft went down in the aerial engagement on February 27. one of which was the 'Bison' of IAF while the other was a F-16 of Pakistan Air Force conclusively identified by its electronic signature and radio transcripts," pointed out the Air Vice Marshal.
