Vaccine hesitancy must end; nasal vaccine candidate could be a game-changer: Dr VK Paul

Urging healthcare workers not to hesitate to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the Centre on Tuesday said it was their societal responsibility to get inoculated, and concerns about adverse effects, as of now, seem to be "unfounded, negligible and insignificant". At a press conference, NITI Aayog member (health) Dr V K Paul asserted that both the vaccines -- Covishield and Covaxin -- are safe and a lot of effort has gone into making them. It is saddening that healthcare workers, especially doctors and nurses, are declining to take it, he said.

New laws designed to destroy agriculture; not scared of Modi, will continue to fight: Rahul Gandhi

The Modi government's new farm laws are designed to 'destroy' the agriculture sector, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged Tuesday and asserted that the only solution to the farmers' issue is to repeal the legislations. He said that the laws will put the entire agriculture sector in the hands of 'three to four crony capitalists'. Hitting back at BJP president JP Nadda for his tweets earlier in the day criticising him, the Congress leader said it was an 'attempted distraction'. Rahul Gandhi made the remarks while addressing a press conference at AICC Headquarters in New Delhi. Watch highlights. (Text: PTI)

Previous regimes lacked modern vision, had no metro policy: PM Modi | Economic Times

Work is in progress on over 1,000-km-long metro rail network in 27 cities in India, PM Narendra Modi said on Monday. He said that there was a time when there was no modern thinking and policy on metro in the country and, as a result, there was a different (type of) metro in each city. Now, an integrated approach has been brought in so that various modes of transport, such bus and trains, complement each other rather than running independently, the Prime Minister added. He was speaking after performing the ground-breaking ceremony of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and Surat Metro Rail Project, via video link. Watch highlights from PM Modi's remarks. Pakistan: PM Modi, other world leaders' placards raised at pro-freedom rally in Sindh province

In a massive pro-freedom rally organised on the 117th birth anniversary of G M Syed, one of the founding fathers of modern Sindhi nationalism, protesters raised the placards of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders to seek their intervention for the freedom of Sindhudesh. People raised pro-freedom slogans during a massive rally organised in Syed’s hometown of Sann in Jamshoro district of Pakistan’s Sindh province on January 17. They claimed that Sindh is the home of Indus Valley Civilization and Vedic religious which was illegitimately occupied by British Empire and was delivered by them in the evil Islamist hands of Pakistan in 1947.
