Vaali Even Before His Death Wrote a Poem on The Doctor Who Treated Him For His Ailment @ Apollo Hospital
Ace Tamil lyricist, Vaa­li who has penned over 10, 000 songs in a career spanning five decades was put on ventilator support at a private hospital in Chennai on Wednesday.

The poet was admitted to the hospital 40 days ago after he complained of breathing difficulty. The 81-year-old was shifted to the intensive care unit later but there is no apparent improvement in his condition.

Vaali was last seen in public at the June 7 launch of the book on the series, Azhagiya Singer, that he wrote for a vernacular magazine. He spent over four hours at the event and the next day wrote lyrics for a song for director Vasanta Balan's Kaaviya Thala­i­van.

The committed writer that he is, the Padma Shri awardee went to music composer A.R.Rahman's studio to discuss the scene and situation that the song was to appear in on screen and completed writing the lyrics in a matter of seven hours. But the same night he took ill and was admitted to hospital, according to sources.

Noted actor Kamal Haasan, who visited the lyricist in the ICU at the hospital, is reported to have loudly told a doctor there, "I need a song from Vaali sir for Vishwaroopam 2. We are all waiting for him. Kindly discharge him as soon as possible." Rahman too is reported to have visited the ailing poet.
