Accusing the state government of Odisha of diverting funds meant for the poor, tribal and weaker sections of the society, Rahul Gandhi vowed to fight their battles along with them. Speaking at a massive public rally in Nabrangpur, Rahul Gandhi said, "Odisha has money, natural resources, forests and water. It is a rich state, but the people are poor. The state government takes your money and gives it to the industrialists. They don't use it for building schools for you, or providing education, health and jobs."
He added that the Congress led UPA government had made special allocation of funds for the welfare of tribal people, but the BJD government has diverted these funds to other things. "The job of the government is to help you. You should have a railway line. The water which should be used for irrigation is diverted for industrial uses," he said.

Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that everyone is talking about India becoming super power. But India cannot be a super power until we ensure that the 50% of our population -- the women- is empowered.

"Congress party works for everyone, for tribals, poor, Dalits and the downtrodden. For us, Hindus and Muslims are equal. We consider everyone equal," he said at a public meeting in Kondagaon district headquarters of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency.
Rahul Gandhi said Congress always focused on empowering tribals, the poor and the downtrodden, while the BJP had "no heart" for tribals and the poor.
Describing Chhattisgarh as a rich land of poor people, he said the state is bestowed with natural resources but its benefits do not reach the common man.
Attacking BJP over corruption, he said the party had turned a blind eye towards corruption in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
"They say that they are fighting against corruption. Don't they see corruption in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh? Their Karnataka chief minister was jailed due to corruption, while in Gujarat, three ministers went to jail," Rahul Gandhi said.
He said the UPA government's major programmes were based on development of the poor, of which MNREGA is an example under which lakhs of people benefited.

Rahul Gandhi stressed that revamping the education system, to provide better access to higher education opportunities would be a priority for the Congress in Himachal. Already this year, 15 new degree colleges and 4 new medical colleges have been set up in Himachal Pradesh.

Speaking amidst an enthusiastic crowd, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the progress that Himachal Pradesh had made with the Congress Party. "We have increased the supply of drinking water in Dharamshala, enabled successful irrigation work in Una, and set up an industrial area in Kinnaur. The state government has approved Rs. 1700 crore and 62 new industries, which will bring manufacturing jobs for the youth of Himachal," said Rahul Gandhi. He also spoke about the Himachal-Ladakh tunnel that will enhance connectivity in the region.
Stating that the opposition makes false claims about development of infrastructure, the Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the UPA government made three times the number of roads in five years in comparison to the NDA government for the same period. He also mentioned that the opposition was against statehood for Himachal, but today tries to take the credit for creating the state, a decision that was actually taken by the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that revamping the education system, to provide better access to higher education opportunities would be a priority for the Congress in Himachal. Already this year, 15 new degree colleges and 4 new medical colleges have been set up in Himachal Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Manipur on March 19, 2014. Rahul Gandhi questioned the BJP's plan to impose the Gujarat model of development over all states and said the best model for each state was the one that characterized the aspirations of its people.
"The opposition talks about the Gujarat model everywhere. What has it got to do with Manipur, or UP, or Meghalaya? The only model that should work in Manipur is the Manipur model, not the Gujarat model," Rahul Gandhi told a massive public rally.
He said the Congress party respected everybody, irrespective of their religion or the place they came from. "We don't want to impose anything on Manipur. We are proud of the language and culture of Manipur as we are proud of all others," Rahul Gandhi told a cheering crowd.
He said he believed that every person of India deserves respect, and added that the opposition party treated natives of Uttar Pradesh poorly in Maharashtra, and the Northeastern people in Delhi. "India is garden of flowers; big, small, different colors. We respect each of these flowers. Our opposition wants only one kind," Rahul Gandhi said.
