"Host nation the Netherlands went into their last Pool B game against New Zealand knowing they could climb above Argentina at the top with a win or draw.
The Dutch side took only eight minutes to take a 1-0 lead with Valentin Verga finishing a reverse stick effort. In the 25th minute, the Netherlands thought they had increased their lead but a Seve van Ass goal was ruled out after a video referral showed the ball brushed his foot.
New Zealand came close to an equaliser early in the second half but Alex Shaw could not stretch far enough to get his stick onto a pass into the circle. It took a great piece of individual skill from Simon Child to put New Zealand level at 1-1 in the 63rd minute when he skipped past three tackles, swivelled, and fired past the keeper. The Dutch couldn't find a winner and the draw meant they had to settle with second place in the group and will face Australia in the semi-finals.

"The reigning Olympic champions Germany took on host nation the Netherlands in Friday's evening game at the 2014 Rabobank Men's Hockey World Cup.
This rematch of the 2012 Olympic final began with the Dutch team having the majority of possession in front of an electric home crowd. Jeroen Hertzberger opened the scoring for the Dutch in the 19th minute after Jelle Galema's great pacy run down the wing and cross into the centre. The half time score was 1-0.
Germany started stronger at the beginning of the second half and from their first penalty corner in the 55th minute forced a smart save from the Dutch keeper. Minutes later, Nicolas Jacobi had to make an even better save to deny the Netherlands scoring again. The final 10 minutes saw a frantic German team desperately trying to score knowing that only a win would really suffice. Germany had a penalty corner right at the death and with boos raining down from the crowd they fluffed the set play and the game ended 1-0 to the Netherlands.

"The highly anticipated game between host nation Netherlands and Australia was the evening game of day seven of the 2014 Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
Current Olympic champions the Netherlands started the game being pinned back by the Australian offense, and keeper Joyce Sombroek had to make an amazing save in the 9th minute to keep the Hockeyroos at bay. Neither team could force a goal before the break and the half ended 0-0.
The second half was as tense as the first and the Dutch were guilty of wasting a couple of penalty corner chances when Maartje Paumen didn't hit the target with her shots. Kelly Jonker then missed a deflection right in front of goal from a Kim Lammers pass. Almost immediately, Australia missed a golden opportunity to score through Ash Nelson. The Netherlands then raced down the other end of the pitch and Kim Lammers deflected in a pass from Jonker to make it 1-0 in the 57th minute. Naomi van As put the Oranje up 2-0 in the 65th minute after a hopeful video referral from the Australian team. The quality of the Dutch team was enough to ensure they prevailed with the win and secure a place in the semi-finals.

"The last game of day 3 of the Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup was a local derby between host nation Netherlands and Belgium.
Cheered on by a huge crowd in the Kyocera Stadium, the Dutch team made a fast start to the game and Ellen Hoog scored a beautiful field goal in the 5th minute to put her nation ahead 1-0. After an early domination by the Netherlands, the Belgium team started to gain a foothold in the game, but the quality of the Dutch team shone through and Marloes Keetels made it 2-0 in the 29th minute. "The host nation went up against New Zealand in the evening match of day 5 of the Rabobank Women's Hockey World Cup.
The Dutch made a blistering start and scored from their first penalty corner in the 4th minute with Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel getting the deflection in front of goal in her 100th game for her nation. The Netherlands were completely controlling the game and New Zealand keeper Sally Rutherford was kept busy and had to make a number of great saves. It took a fantastic angled deflection from Kim Lammers to make it 2-0 to the Oranje with five minutes until half time.
The confident Dutch girls continued to control the game in the second half and peppered the goal with shots. Stacey Mitchelsen tested the Netherlands keeper with a powerful shot which was well saved in the Black Stick's best chance of the half. Xan de Waard then unselfishly passed to Kelly Jonker on a breakaway when she should have shot herself, but the 2-0 advantage was enough for the Netherlands to take all 3 points.
