After a successful outing in the series opener at Kensington Oval in Barbados, West Indies will take on visitors New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series on August 19, Friday. The hosts, having a 1-0 lead in hand, are just one win away from clinching the ODI series and breaking their long series-losing streak.
It was a much-needed victory for the Caribbean side as they have not had ideal outings in the recent past. They lost against Ireland in January, then lost against India in February away from home, before winning against the Netherlands in June. They then lost the ODI series against Pakistan and Bangladesh before losing another series to India at home.
The last three series losses were all a clean sweep as the Windies lost nine ODI games in a row and thus the recent win, that too against a strong Kiwi side, will boost their confidence. The bowlers played a crucial role in the first game as they dismissed the Blackcaps for just 190.
The Men in Maroon then completed a successful chase, thanks to a brilliant half-century by Shamarh Brooks. New Zealand would be disappointed by their effort and would look to bounce back in the second ODI to level the series, whereas the hosts would look to extend their winning momentum and clinch the series.
Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the second game of the series.
Pitch Conditions
Both bowlers and batters have found help on the Kensington Oval pitch. It will be difficult for the sides batting first to reach a large total because the pitch is not conducive for high scoring, which was also evident in the first game. Given that the first innings’ average is only 228 runs, a score of anywhere close to 250 will be challenging.

After a power-packed ODI series, the action shifts to the shortest format as Ireland and New Zealand will be locking horns in the first T20I at the Civil Service Cricket Club, Stormont, Belfast on Monday, July 18. After suffering a 0-3 whitewash in the just-concluded ODI series in an agonizing manner, the Irish team would be hoping for a revival in fortunes in the T20I series.
In what was an evenly-contested ODI series, Ireland fell short on all three occasions despite being in a position of strength. Two of those were high-scoring thrillers where runs in excess of 300 were scored. New Zealand, on the other hand, were not up to the mark with the ball in the first and third game and the top-order batting remained inconsistent as well. It was courtesy of middle-order sensation Michael Bracewell that they succeeded in winning the first two matches.

The Belfast wicket is expected to be favorable for both batting and bowling. However, the batters have a better chance of capitalizing on the surface once they are well set in the middle and a run fest looks pretty much on the cards. The pacers and spinners need to bowl in the right areas in order to get breakthroughs at regular intervals. Therefore, the captain winning the toss will look to bowl first.

After a not-so-successful T20I series, West Indies are all set to host New Zealand for a three-match ODI series, the first of which will be played on August 17. The visitors clinched the T20I series by 2-1 as the hosts saved themselves from a whitewash scare, but they will now look to bounce back stronger in the 50-over games to try and deny the visitors the ODI series win.
Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has a good track record in the ODI format. He is just one maximum away from completing 50 sixes in this format and needs 47 runs to complete 500 runs against the West Indies. If he does so, he will become the fifth New Zealand batter to achieve the feat. Thus, all eyes will be on the skipper.
Martin Guptill, one of the finest players in the ODI format for the Black Caps, also has some good performances to show against Windies. The visitors are in a winning form as they’re backed with the T20I series win, which will prove to be very much beneficial when they walk into the ODI series. They would look to carry the momentum and dominate the hosts in the 50-over games as well.
West Indies, on the other hand, have not had a good time recently in the ODIs. They faced a second-string team India in July and lost the series 0-3 after a dismal performance. Before facing the Men in Blue, they had faced a clean sweep against Bangladesh who had defeated the Men in Maroon 0-3 as well. Thus, West Indies are backed by consecutive ODI series whitewashes, and the upcoming series will be mighty crucial for them.
Here are all the stats & approaching milestones you need to know ahead of the first game of the series.
Pitch Conditions
The pitch at the Kensington Oval has supported both the batters and bowlers. Of the 45 ODIs played at this venue, 20 were won defending, and 23 were won while chasing. It is not a high-scoring pitch, and thus it will be a task for the teams batting first to put up a big total. The average first innings t

The ODI series has come down to the third and decider game, where both West Indies, the hosts, and New Zealand, the visitors, look to achieve the same goal- a win. While the hosts won the first game to take an early lead in the series and break their nine-match losing streak in the format, the visitors bounced back stronger to level the series and take it to the final game.
The two teams will lock horns on Sunday, August 21, at the same venue- the Kensington Oval in Barbados, where the winning side will be crowned as the series champions. New Zealand worked on their flaws after losing the first game, and now West Indies would look to do the same. They faced a terrible collapse in the previous contest and would look to work in the batting department.

West Indies vs New Zealand- 3nd ODI Match Stats, Predicted Playing XI and Previews

Scotland will take on New Zealand in the one-off ODI at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh on July 31. The hosts lost the two-match T20I series 0-2 and will be hoping for a better performance in the 50-over format against a quality New Zealand side. This will also be a great experience for the Scotland players who haven’t had much international assignments against the Test-playing nations.
On the other hand, the Kiwis would be looking to end the series with a dominating display given their terrific squad strength. Mitchell Santner has been spot on with his captaincy in the absence of Kane Williamson and he will be looking to take the team home again in the ODI format.

South Africa will be locking horns with Ireland in the second T20I at the County Ground, Bristol on Friday, August 5. A spirited Proteas would be hoping to seal the series by registering yet another win under their belt. They overcame the Andrew Balbirne-led side by 21 runs in a high-scoring encounter in the series opener.
The Proteas seem to be unstoppable in this format at the moment for the last couple of months that saw them level a bilateral T20I series against the top-ranked Indian team and then register an away 2-1 series victory over England in their own backyard recently. It can be rightly said that the South Africans are peaking at the right time and making a strong statement ahead of the T20 World Cup down under.
Ireland, on the other hand, have a lot of work to do in the format. They have suffered back-to-back defeats in T20Is in the last two months. They were first blanked 0-2 by a second-string Indian side at home, which was followed by a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand. The Irish would now be hoping to come out all guns blazing with the series on the line.

By CricTracker| 43 views

IRE vs SA Match Details
Venue: County Ground, Bristol
Date and Time: August 5, 11 PM
IRE vs SA Pitch Report
The surface at the County Ground is usually good for batting and many high scores have been registered at this venue. The batting in the second innings also gets easier. However, both teams will be eager to play to their strengths by putting up runs on the board and then adding pressure on the opposition. Therefore, the captain winning the toss would be looking to bat first.
IRE vs SA, 2nd T20I Probable Playing XIs:
Ireland:
Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie(c), Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker(w), Gareth Delany, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Andy McBrine, Joshua Little
South Africa:

Bhumi Pednekar recently appeared in the comedy Thank You For Coming and the film invited some extreme reactions from the viewers. While some praised the film for its bold concept, some shamed it for that. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar, Bhumi spoke about the latter group of people and slammed them for the shaming. She expressed her disappointment towards people who didn’t criticise the film but its intent. The actress discussed the prevalent gender bias and how people never took offence when she was a part of such stories told from a male perspective. She pointed out how Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 was supported by the same people who shamed her film, when somewhere they dealt with the same subject. Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her. She highlighted the hypocrisy of the situation that people accept objectification of women but have a problem with them talking about their sexuality. You can watch the entire conversation here.
