We have excelled in every sphere, be it education, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, science, technology, sports, medicine, and space. Whilst what we have achieved in the last 75 years has been remarkable, the best is yet to come, as the future belongs to India.
The three columns of our beautiful Tiranga represents courage, peace and prosperity. I will be proudly hoisting the national flag to reinstate our commitment towards building a safe, equitable and inclusive India. I look back and recall with pride the moments that I have seen the flag at the Republic Day parade, at the beating retreat, at the flag hoisting and I do believe that it has played a critical role in bringing me back to India to work here despite of the many opportunities that presented themselves abroad. I believe that it is important that everyone of our citizens, young and old, make sure that we rise to this call of #HarGharTiranga and unfurl the flag now for our 75 years as India. I do believe many milestones were achieved, particularly the Swatch Bharat Mission in the decade of last 10 years where India achieved its sanitation - one of the biggest behavioural change exercises in the world and provision of infrastructure where toilets or treatment of sewage, etc were very critical milestones. And another critical milestone to celebrate is what we have achieved in women empowerment, many of us women in the business; many women in self-help groups. Of course, lot more is to be done but significant milestones are in. Bhumi Pednekar recently appeared in the comedy Thank You For Coming and the film invited some extreme reactions from the viewers. While some praised the film for its bold concept, some shamed it for that. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar, Bhumi spoke about the latter group of people and slammed them for the shaming. She expressed her disappointment towards people who didn’t criticise the film but its intent. The actress discussed the prevalent gender bias and how people never took offence when she was a part of such stories told from a male perspective. She pointed out how Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 was supported by the same people who shamed her film, when somewhere they dealt with the same subject. Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her.
