സുഡാനെ എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും സംരക്ഷിക്കാനായുള്ള പരിശ്രമത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി സായുധസംരക്ഷണം നല്‍കുന്നു

വടക്കന്‍ വെള്ളക്കണ്ടാമൃഗങ്ങളിലെ അവശേഷിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഏക ആണാണ് സുഡാന്‍.ഇവര്‍ മൂവരും ഇന്ന് ഒരു 400 X 400 മീറ്റര്‍ വിസ്താരമുള്ള പ്രദേശത്ത് ജീവിക്കുകയാണ്. 24 മണിക്കൂറും സായുധകാവലും ഉണ്ട്. 1970 -ല്‍ 500 എണ്ണം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഇവയുടെ കൊമ്പിനായി വേട്ടയാടപ്പെട്ട് ഇന്ന് മൂന്നെണ്ണമായി ചുരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇവയുടെ ഒരു കിലോ കൊമ്പ് അരക്കോടിരൂപയ്‌ക്കൊക്കെയാണ് വിറ്റുപോയിരുന്നത്. വിയറ്റ്നാമിലുള്ള ചില ആള്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഔഷധാവശ്യത്തിനും തങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പത്ത് പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കാനുമായിട്ടാണ് ഇതു വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നത്.
