सोमनाथ संस्कृत महाविध्यालय में सरदार वल्ल्भ भाई पटेल की प्रतिमा का अनावरण किया गया , वक्ताओं ने कहा कि सरदार न होते तो सोरठ आज भारत मे नहीं होता ओर भव्य सोमनाथ मंदिर भी शायद नहीं होता। ये जमीन उनकी ऋणी है। भारत आज़ाद हुआ उस समय भी जूनागढ़ को आज़ादी नहीं मिली थी। नवाब की इच्छा के अनुसार जूनागढ़ को पाकिस्तान के साथ जोड़ना था लेकिन सरदार पटेल ने जूनागढ़ को पाकिस्तान मे जाने से रोका था। आज सोमनाथ विश्व मे प्रसिद्ध है इसके लिए हम पटेल के ऋणी हैं। सरदार पटेल की प्रतिमा का अनावरण राज्य बीज निगम के चेयरमेन ने किया। इस अवसर पर शहर के गणमान्य लोग मौजूद रहे।
