Google doodle celebrates British archaeologist Mary Leakey's birthday video
Google on Wednesday celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of British archaeologist, Mary Leakey by putting up a doodle on its home page.
The doodle features Mary Leakey at an archaeological site engrossed in excavation. Like in reality, the doodle has two Dalmatians running around her. Mary, a known animal-lover, was generally accompanied in the field by three to four Dalmatians.
Interestingly, the doodle also features one of Leakey's major discoveries, "the Laetoli footprints", and some tools used in archaeology.
The first and last two letters of the word Google - G, O and L, E -are seen in the background while Mary Leakey and the Dalmatians replace the second O and second G of the word.
In 1978, six years after her husband's death, Mary Leakey made her most important discovery - footprints frozen for 3.5 million years in volcanic mud. Her discovery revealed that early hominids walked upright much earlier than previously thought.
Born on February 6 1913, Mary Leakey, despite the lack of formal archaeological training, is widely known for discovering the first fossilised Proconsul skull, an extinct ape now believed to be ancestral to humans, and the robust Zinjanthropus skull at Olduvai Gorge.
Along with her husband Louis Leakey, Mary uncovered the tools and fossils of ancient hominids.

Dorothy Hodgkin: Nobel Prize-winning British chemist celebrated with Google Doodle
Google has celebrated the British chemist Dorothy Hodgkin with a Doodle on its homepage.
Hodgkin, born 12 May 1910, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering the molecular structure of vitamin B12, making her at the time only the third woman to win the prize.
She was best known for advancement of the technique of of X-ray crystallography, in which she used large punch-card operated tabulators, early predecessor to the modern computer, to analyse the patterns cast by reflected X-rays.
She used to technique to work out the structure of the penicillin molecule, in 1946. This is the molecule shown in the Google Doodle - an image based on Hodgkin's model, which is on display in the Science Museum in London.
Born in Egypt Dorothy Mary Crowfoot, Hodgkin spent most of her childhood in England. She was fascinated by crystals from a young age and on her sixteenth birthday received a book about using X-rays to analyse crystals which greatly inspired her.
She worked in the field directly on graduating from Oxford, in 1932, first at the University of Cambridge, and then back at Oxford. The work on vitamin B12 that won her the Nobel Prize took her eight years to complete.
In 1937, she married Thomas Lionel Hodgkin, a lecturer and, like her, a committed socialist. She was a member of the Communist party until the invasion of Hungary in 1956, and in 1953 was banned from entering theஇவரால் Anup Sahni| 548 பார்வைகள்

The internet giant Google celebrates the 104th birthday of British scientist Dorothy Hodgkin with a doodle of X-ray crystallography of biological molecules, which she developed in 1945.
The Egypt-born scientist solved the structure of cholesterol in 1937, penicillin in 1946 and vitamin B12 in 1956, for which she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1964.
Hodgkin also deciphered the structure of insulin in 1969.

Google on Tuesday paid tribute to German, sculptor, painter, designer, and choreographer Oskar Schlemmer on his 130th birth anniversary. The search giant created a doodle, which shows a bulbous mechanical figure standing in a ballet pose wearing metallic masks.

Saul Bass (May 8, 1920 -- April 25, 1996) was an American graphic designer and filmmaker, best known for his design of motion picture title sequences, film posters, and corporate logos.
During his 40-year career Bass worked for some of Hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Among his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of a skyscraper in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.
Bass designed some of the most iconic corporate logos in North America, including the AT&T "bell" logo in 1969, as well as AT&T's "globe" logo in 1983 after the breakup of the Bell System. He also designed Continental Airlines' 1968 "jetstream" logo and United Airlines' 1974 "tulip" logo which became some of the most recognized airline industry logos of the era. Today's doodle is dedicated to the British engineer Hubert Cecil Booth, the man who gave the world first powered vacuum cleaners, on his 147th birthday. Born in Gloucester in 1871, Hubert Cecil Booth was an engineer best known for inventing one of the first powered vacuum cleaners. Before his version, cleaning machines just blew or brushed dirt away, instead of sucking it up.

In the video, the man is heard saying that he got oxygen supply from patients snapped for 5 mins. The man, in the video, added that this was part of an experiment to know who all will survive. Reports suggest the video is purportedly of Arinjay Jain, owner of Paras Hospital on NH 2. UP health dept has ordered a probe into the incident after the video went viral.
