74% of Indian employers agreed for Hybrid Working in the future, says Poly Research
The new Poly study, Recruit, Retain and Grow, analyzes work policies, culture, and wellness through the lens of over 2,500 global business decision-makers, of which 102 Indian companies participated. The Indian companies surveyed reported that employees should have the flexibility to choose the way they work, with over 90% of employers agreeing that employees should be given the right to request flexible working from day one. Additionally, Indian companies are worried about the long-term impact on employee wellness due to the shift to hybrid work. For example, 54% of the surveyed companies reported that employers worry about an unhealthy culture of overworking and agree that culture and workforce wellness trends during hybrid working needs to be relooked. Companies are aware of the dangers of pushing their employees too hard. With hybrid work, it has become more difficult to protect employees’ time, as there are fewer physical interactions, and managers can’t monitor working hours as easily as they could when people are in the office. Overwork and burnout are real dangers, so companies must find a way to address these potential problems before they start to lose staff.
The report highlights, Globally, over 59% of organizations believe that if they don’t address their hybrid work processes and plans, they’ll lose staff and will be unable to attract new talent; 74% of Indian employers agree with this trend. Strategy and equality for hybrid workers are areas of concern: Less than half, 48%, of all organizations globally and in the APAC region are fully prepared for hybrid working, while 37% of global companies are prepared only in the short term. In India, the statistics are slightly higher than the worldwide average, with close to 63% of Indian employers responding that they are fully prepared for hybrid work. Increasing Concerns On Cloud Services Are Under Attack | Cyber Attack | VARINDIA News Hour
With the new hybrid-working model we see organizations increasingly moving more of their workload settings to the cloud. While this transformation offers great agility and scalability benefits, it comes with inherent and increased risks to security and compliance. A simple configuration error can result in your entire organization being exposed to threat actors who no longer need to break into your data center to access your critical data or conduct ransomware attacks. As per Gartner by 2025, 99% of cloud security issues will be a result of human error when configuring assets and security in the cloud. At a time when organizations are becoming increasingly dependent on third-party cloud vendors such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM and Google Cloud Platform to securely manage their data, concerns around misconfigurations and other vulnerabilities in the cloud are likely to amplify quickly. What’s more, many of the organizations finding themselves at risk have had to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives at an uncomfortable pace over the past two years, resulting in knowledge and talent gaps that only add to their fears around cloud security.
Under the shared responsibility model - a security framework designed to ensure accountability for compromised data and other incidents - the cloud provider will offer basic cloud security, but it's up to businesses themselves to secure their own data within the cloud. To put it in another way, if cloud providers ensure the town gates are locked and the perimeter is well guarded, it’s still up to businesses to ensure their own doors are locked. That’s no mean feat, particularly when you consider that many large enterprises now rely on three or four cloud platforms as part of a multi-cloud strategy. Jobs offerings mentioned as ‘hybrid work’ jumps 464% in Q3 2021, says GlobalData
There has been a huge spike in the number of job postings mentioning both ‘remote work’ and ‘hybrid work’, according to GlobalData. The report highlights that jobs featuring the key word ‘remote work’ saw highs with listings increase by 23% in Q3 2021 compared to Q2 2021, while ‘hybrid work’ saw a 464% increase in Q3 2021, compared to the previous quarter. Remote and hybrid working models are the future of work as job seekers look for flexibility. These models are also beneficial to companies, removing spatial boundaries in terms of finding talent and potentially increasing the number of job applicants. Further, flexible working could be useful in countries where the impending threat of another wave of COVID-19 cannot be ruled out. “Experts say, compared to jobs related to ‘remote work’, ‘hybrid work’ was the star of the show in Q3 2021. This model has grown exponentially - particularly since June 2021.
Hiring within the ‘future of work’ theme is also seeing an increase. Over 43,000 job postings in Q3 2021 were related to this theme, with more companies adopting technology and changing workflow. The hybrid work model is largely being used in the healthcare, financial, consumer, and tech sectors – according to job advertisements. Among the companies that are listing jobs with hybrid work are The New York Times, Harvard University Disability Resources (UDR), and Cisco Systems. With a new style of working naturally comes the development of tech to help smoothen the transition. For example, Microsoft is hiring a ‘Senior Director’ for Microsoft Teams to build collaborative applications. Further, KPMG International Cooperative is leveraging the latest Microsoft cloud features to enhance hybrid work experiences, as suggested by its advertised role: ‘Director Modern Workplace Product Management - FY22’.

The attitudes of both employees and employers towards hybrid working - a style of working that allows for a more balanced home-office work pattern - have fundamentally changed due to the pandemic, according to GlobalData. The leading data and analytics company notes that this is good news for tech companies producing collaboration and communication (C&C) services such as Zoom that have seen a boost from remote working over the pandemic. C&C tech acted as a life vest for businesses forced to move to remote working. Their use will only continue as these enterprises step into the future of hybrid working. Companies have growing commitments to environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals, which means they have to demonstrate the benefits to society and address customers’ environmental concerns – all enabled by C&C services.
Over time, the market is bound to consolidate – as evidenced by Zoom’s agreed deal to buy Five9 for around $14.7bn. The generally accepted ‘marketing rule of three’ indicates that as individual markets mature, they tend to be dominated by three dominant players, so the battle has started to gain a place at the top table. Experts predict that “Zoom’s deal is just the start of what will be an onslaught of C&C mergers and acquisitions.”Another key trend is the migration from upfront investment-heavy, on-premises products to pay-as-you-go-based cloud solutions, often from new competitors such as Facebook and Google. Facebook’s ‘Workplace’ now has over seven million paying business customers, while Google’s ‘Workspace’ is being actively marketed as a solution for hybrid meetings.
