Kate Upton: call her dumb at your peril

As a pneumatic blonde, Kate Upton has been all too easily labelled a bimbo. Sure, the fact that she made her debut bikini-clad on the cover of lads mag Sports Illustrated didn't really help, and neither did those Terry Richardson videos, but she has a brain people, and she wants us all to know that.
"People deal with models like they are children," Upton tells the latest issue of US Elle . "They think they can pull one over on you. It's actually funny. I'm always like, I'm about to pull something on you, and you're so focused on thinking I'm dumb you're not even going to know."


That aforementioned 2012 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover appears to have been a bit of an albatross in more ways than one. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it didn't lead to offers of romance from Prince Charmings.
"After my first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible about myself for a solid month." Why? "Every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like I was their bachelor present or something. I'm not a toy, I'm a human. I'm not here to be used. I am a grown woman, and you need to figure your s**t out."
It's probably worth mentioning that Upton went on to appear on the cover of the issue - of which there is only one each year - again in 2013. Hmmm. Take from that what you will.
