കൊച്ചി രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളത്തില് ഇനി ഇരു വശങ്ങളില് നിന്നും വിമാനങ്ങള്ക്കു പറന്നിറങ്ങാം. ഇതിനായി രണ്ടാമതൊരു ഇന്സ്ട്രുമെന്റ് ലാന്ഡിങ് സംവിധാനം (ഐഎല്എസ്) കൂടി വിമാനത്താവളത്തില് സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. എയര്പോര്ട്ട് അതോറിറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ കീഴിലുള്ള കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്, നാവിഗേഷന് ആന്ഡ് സര്വലന്സ് വകുപ്പ് ആണു പുതിയ ഐഎല്എസ് സംവിധാനം സ്ഥാപിച്ചതും പ്രവര്ത്തിപ്പിക്കുന്നതും. പൂര്ണമായി വിദേശനിര്മിതവും അത്യാധുനികവുമായ 'ഇന്ദ്ര' ഐഎല്എസ് ആണു പുതുതായി സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇതോടെ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെ റണ്വേയുടെ ഇരു വശത്തു നിന്നും ഏതു പ്രതികൂല കാലാവസ്ഥയിലും സമയനഷ്ടമില്ലാതെ വിമാനങ്ങള്ക്കു സുരക്ഷിതമായി നിലത്തിറങ്ങാനാകും. ഇറങ്ങാന് കഴിയാതെ വിമാനങ്ങള് ഇതര വിമാനത്താവങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു വിടുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കാന് കഴിയുന്നതോടെ വിമാനക്കമ്പനികള്ക്ക് ഇന്ധന നഷ്ടം, സമയ നഷ്ടം എന്നിവ ഒഴിവാക്കാനാകും.By News60 ML| 1917 views
