A Billion & One Voices: The Story of Budi & Juglal
Budi and Juglal never had any means to support themselves ever. No land no oxen, not even water. They are marginal farmers who work as labour on small farms while their children used to play all day here and there. Because of the RTE launched by the UPA led Congress Government they managed to put their children in school. Now they are happy that the children are learning something. They feel education will open the door of opportunities for them.
The Congress led UPA government passed the Right To Education Act (RTE) in 2009 that makes education a Constitutional Right for every citizen. It has spent 8.7 times more than the previous government on Sarva Shiskha Abhiyaan.

A Billion & One Voices: The Story of Vijay & Anjali Das
The story of Vijay & Anjali Das shows us how political parties actually effect the common man of India. Vijay and Anjali tells us they think well of a political party when it does more work for the poor. Their experience so far has not been good. They have to pay one rupee everyday to the Trinamool party shop committee or else they are beaten and face other problems like electricity being cut off. The fear of being beaten is what keeps them quiet and they pay whatever is asked.
Anjali says with the Trinamool in power, Bengal has become very unsafe for women. Every second day they hear stories of rape which makes her scared to send her daughter out of the house. In a situation like this how will anyone be able to educate their daughters she asks.
It is the work the Congress party does that sets them apart from other political parties. Indira Gandhi did a lot for the poor. A woman who always kept her word. Vijay and Anjali want a party that will not create unrest. A party that will let them eat 2 square meals peacefully. They want Rahul Gandhi to win. They feel it will be better for the country if he comes to power and that's why they would only vote for the Congress.

Shehroon Nisha of Uttar Pradesh would barely earn ten rupees after a hard day of work. She then joined the women's self help group and that changed her life completely.
This women's self help group lent her some money. Shehroon nisha who didn't even have a place to stay bought a buffalo from that money. She didn't care about the house as long as she was earning a living and not being a slave to anyone else for ten rupees.
She again took some money from the self help group and got her son the license to drive a truck. Today, the son is married and happy. Now she's planning to get posh room made for the new daughter-in-law.
She took baby steps towards her dream when she joined the women's self help group. Dream that finally came true. Now she says her next wish is that Rahul Gandhi wins in the upcoming elections.

A Billion & One Voices: The Story of Priyank Kharge
Priyank Kharge, Congress MLA from Chittapur (Karnataka) strongly believes "If for every constituency one has a vision India will automatically develop." He is a clearly a man who's with the people. He is available for them 24/7 on the phone as he understands that people who have voted for him would only want to speak to him. On an average he attends about 400 calls a day. The public of his constituency likes to discuss the problems they face.
After being elected from his constituency his main task was to give people what belongs to them. 'Every rupee that comes from the government should reach the people directly' he says. For that he had to synchronize his own administration so that people would start reaping the benefits quickly. Whether its farmers problems or youths, he understands them all and has a plan in place to solve them. Like a true leader, he has long-term vision for his constituency and his people.

Hussain hails from Kovalam, Kerala. His work mainly consists of boating and fishing. The peak tourist seasons he says lasts for about 3 months which gets him good work. When the tourist season finishes he goes for fishing. Sometimes he is able to catch plenty sometimes not too many. But he is happy.
Hussain also talks about Mr. Shashi Tharoor and how much good work he has done. The new harbour was entirely his initiative. A big reason why he and his people would vote for him. He says Mr. Tharoor is an honest man and the new harbor that he has built will have far reaching effects and will even help the next generation.

Every year there are thousands of people who go abroad for a better future. This is a story of a man Guru Kumar from Mandya, Karnataka who returned to India in 2010 as he felt that there were 'equal opportunities back home'.

A Billion & One Voices: The Story of Monk Jigmet Raftan
Jigmet Raftan is a monk living in a Monastery in Jammu and Kashmir where he is also studying in a school. His day starts off with early morning prayers.
He explains that as a monk they have to go step by step to reach a certain level. They follow monastic codes and start with becoming a monk and after 2-3 years they become a Getsul. After that comes a stage when a monk becomes a Geelong. There are more than 200 rules to follow when you become a Geelong.
Jigmet Raftan explains that the most important thing of being a monk is that you have to do good things for others, everything has to be good for society.
Jigmet says he has seen a lot of things changed for a good in the past 22 years, the region has seen developed under congress government. He says that in his perspective, Rahul Gandhi is young and enthusiastic and is doing good as a leader of the party. About the Gandhi family, Jigmet says the family has done honest politics and have the right will to take our country to new heights. Dilip works as a Quality Analyst in an IT company in Kerala. IT sector he says is once again on a boom now. Increase in revenues results in good pay. Dilip feels the UPA led Congress has done good work in the last 10 years. Especially the Right to Information Act(RTI) which helps people like him understand what's happening in the political system. In his words "RTI has got more transparency in our system". Even in his own company he has little information about what's happening at the top level. RTI can help him here as well.
Dilip feels India needs economic stability. And Congress is the only party that can keep up this momentum of boom in the IT sector.
