Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh on March 20, 2014. Addressing the huge turnout, Rahul Gandhi attacked the opposition for mocking the party for the work it has done for the poor people. Speaking amidst an enthusiastic crowd, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the progress that Himachal Pradesh had made with the Congress Party. "We have increased the supply of drinking water in Dharamshala, enabled successful irrigation work in Una, and set up an industrial area in Kinnaur. The state government has approved Rs. 1700 crore and 62 new industries, which will bring manufacturing jobs for the youth of Himachal," said Rahul Gandhi. He also spoke about the Himachal-Ladakh tunnel that will enhance connectivity in the region.
Stating that the opposition makes false claims about development of infrastructure, the Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the UPA government made three times the number of roads in five years in comparison to the NDA government for the same period. He also mentioned that the opposition was against statehood for Himachal, but today tries to take the credit for creating the state, a decision that was actually taken by the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that revamping the education system, to provide better access to higher education opportunities would be a priority for the Congress in Himachal. Rahul Gandhi addressed a public rally in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh on March 22, 2014. "We are soon to face yet another general election. This election is a battle between two thoughts -- one that of Congress which is based on love, affection, brotherhood and inclusive growth; the other ideology is based on anger, hatred and of pitting one against another," Rahul Gandhi told a massive crowd.
He cautioned the people of being misled by the false propaganda of the opposition party. "We faced resistance from them during the land acquisition bill's passage. When a rich person sells his land, he gets to do so at the market price however when a poor farmer sells his land he doesn't get a fair price. This farmer bleeds and sweats for the country and fails to get a proper price for his land. The opposition tried stopping this bill at the standing committee level but yet we managed to pass it," said Rahul Gandhi.
Sharing the ideology and the vision of the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi promised the people of UP that the state will have unprecedented development when the Congress comes to power. He added that the ideology of the Congress is of love, peace and brotherhood and the BJP can continue dreaming about removing Congress from India. "They don't realize that the Congress party is not an entity, it is an ideology. Speaking at a massive public rally Rahul Gandhi said, "Odisha has money, natural resources, forests and water. It is a rich state, but the people are poor. The state government takes your money and gives it to the industrialists. They don't use it for building schools for you, or providing education, health and jobs."
He added that the Congress led UPA government had made special allocation of funds for the welfare of tribal people, but the BJD government has diverted these funds to other things. "The job of the government is to help you. You should have a railway line. The water which should be used for irrigation is diverted for industrial uses," he said.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that while the industry needs resources, it should not come at the cost of farmers and there is a need for balanced development.
Sharing the vision of the Congress Party that seeks to remove poverty from India, he asked the people to join the Congress in this fight. Expressing happiness over the presence of women in the rallies, he assured the women that the Congress Party will make full efforts to ensure 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha.

"Congress party works for everyone, for tribals, poor, Dalits and the downtrodden. For us, Hindus and Muslims are equal. We consider everyone equal," he said at a public meeting in Kondagaon district headquarters of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency.
Rahul Gandhi said Congress always focused on empowering tribals, the poor and the downtrodden, while the BJP had "no heart" for tribals and the poor.
Describing Chhattisgarh as a rich land of poor people, he said the state is bestowed with natural resources but its benefits do not reach the common man.
Attacking BJP over corruption, he said the party had turned a blind eye towards corruption in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
"They say that they are fighting against corruption. Don't they see corruption in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh? Their Karnataka chief minister was jailed due to corruption, while in Gujarat, three ministers went to jail," Rahul Gandhi said.

He said when the Congress ushered the IT revolution, the opposition in its short sightedness had claimed that technology would harm the youth, and take away jobs, but when the revolution became a success, the same opposition claimed that they were responsible for bringing computers to India.
"The BJP has been talking about eradicating corruption, and the progress that Gujarat has seen under its current leadership. But then why are there tainted ministers, who have been in jail still in power in Gujarat and Karnataka? Why is there no RTI commissioner in the state? And why has the BJP opposed the anti-corruption bills in the Parliament?", said Rahul Gandhi.
He said that the claims made by BJP, about the Gujarat model of development, are questionable. "They talk about Gujarat shining, but that is not true of the poor in Gujarat. Rs.11 defines the poverty line, children are dying of malnutrition, and land has been taken away from farmers. Rahul Gandhi struck a personal cord with the people of Arunachal Pradesh during his public meeting in Ziro. He began his speech by greeting the people of Ziro in their language: "Ziro, Aya Doha". Describing Ziro as a place of immeasurable beauty, he said "There is no shortage of beauty here. The people are beautiful, the mountains are beautiful, nature is beautiful, the women are beautiful. Zero means that which can't be measured. Your beauty is immeasurable. That's why this place is called Ziro".
Rahul Gandhi expressed his anguish at the death Nido Taniam, a boy from Arunachal Pradesh who was murdered in Delhi. Rahul said, "Our party stands for unity among the whole country and that is the idea we stand for. We condemned the incident," said Rahul Gandhi. "We want to create such an India in which wherever you go, all of you feel that you will be welcomed with open arms," he said.
Rahul Gandhi said that Arunachal Pradesh has made a lot of progress since its formation. "Prime Minister Indira Gandhi made Arunachal Pradesh a Union Territory in 1972. It became a state under Rajiv Gandhi. Arunachal Pradesh has come a long way since then. Its literacy was almost zero, now it is almost equal to the national average," he said.
