    അടുത്ത മാസം ബഹിരാകാശത്തേക്ക് യാത്ര തിരിക്കുന്ന ആനി മക്ലെയിൻ എന്ന അമേരിക്കൻ ബഹിരാകാശയാത്രിക തികഞ്ഞ ആത്മവിശ്വാസത്തിലാണ് .നാസയില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന ലഫ്റ്റനന്‍റ് കേണല്‍ ആനി ഡിസംബര്‍ മൂന്നിനു വേണ്ടി കാത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ്. അന്ന് അവര്‍ റഷ്യന്‍ റോക്കറ്റില്‍ ബഹിരാകാശത്തേക്ക് കുതിക്കും. കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ട് സോയൂസ് ദൌത്യങ്ങളും പരാജയമായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും അതൊന്നും തന്നെ അലട്ടുന്നില്ലെന്ന് ആനി പറയുന്നു .39 വയസുകാരിയാണ് മക്ലെയിന്‍. ഒരു മകനുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍, കുടുംബം തന്‍റെ ഈ ജീവിതവുമായി പൊരുത്തപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നാണ് അവര്‍ പറയുന്നത്.ഡിസംബര്‍ മൂന്നിന് റഷ്യയിലേയും കാനഡയിലേയും മറ്റ് യാത്രികര്‍ക്കൊപ്പമാണ് മക്ലെയിന്‍ ബഹിരാകാശത്തേക്ക് കുതിക്കുക.2013 ലാണ് മക്ലെയിന്‍ നാസയില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ മാസം ബഹിരാകാശ യാത്രികര്‍ നടത്തിയ യാത്രയും പരാജയമായിരുന്നു. വാതകച്ചോര്‍ച്ചയായിരുന്നു കാരണം. ദൌത്യം പരാജയപ്പെട്ടതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് കസാഖിസ്ഥാനില്‍ അടിയന്തിര ലാന്‍ഡിങ് നടത്തുകയായിരുന്നു സംഘം. ഒക്ടോബര്‍ 11 ന് നടന്ന ആ ദൌത്യം പരാജയമല്ലേ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാല്‍ അല്ല എന്നാണ് മക്ലെയിന്‍റെ ഉത്തരം. കാരണം, മനുഷ്യജീവന് അപകടം ഒന്നും തന്നെ ഉണ്ടായില്ലല്ലോ എന്നാണവര്‍ ചോദിക്കുന്നത്. അതേ ആത്മവിശ്വാസമാണ് മക്ലെയിനെ ബഹിരാകാശത്തേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നതും.യാത്ര എടുക്കുമ്പോഴും ആനിക്ക് തികഞ്ഞ ആത്മവിശ്വാസമുണ്ട് .ആറുമാസം ബഹിരാകാശത്ത് കഴിയാനാണ് തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

    നാസയുടെ അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി ചന്ദ്രനു ചുറ്റിസഞ്ചരിച്ച ബഹിരാകാശ യാത്രികനാണ് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ്. ചൊവ്വാഗ്രഹത്തിലേക്ക് മനുഷ്യനെ അയക്കാനുള്ള പദ്ധതി വിഡ്ഢിത്തവും പരിഹാസ്യവുമാണെന്ന് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ് കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി. ബിബിസി റേഡിയോ 5 ലൈവില്‍ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.
    അടുത്ത പത്ത് വര്‍ഷത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ ചൊവ്വയിലേക്ക് മനുഷ്യനെ അയച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള പദ്ധതികള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കാനാണ് നാസയുടെ പദ്ധതി.
    നിലവില്‍ രണ്ട് റോബോട്ടിക്ക് പര്യവേക്ഷണ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ ചൊവ്വയിലുണ്ട്.
    മനുഷ്യനെ അയച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള പദ്ധകള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി വരുന്ന ചിലവാണ് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സിന്റെ എതിര്‍പ്പിന് കാരണം. ഇപ്പോള്‍ നടന്നുവരുന്ന യന്ത്ര നിയന്ത്രിത സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുള്ള പര്യവേക്ഷണ പദ്ധതികളെ അദ്ദേഹം അനുകൂലിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അതിന് താരതമ്യേന ചിലവ് കുറവാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു. നമ്മളെ ചൊവ്വയിലേക്ക് ആകര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നത് എന്താണ്? അതിന്റെ അനിവാര്യതയെന്താണ്? ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇതില്‍ താല്‍പര്യമുണ്ടെന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നില്ല. ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ് പറഞ്ഞു.
    1968 ല്‍ അമേരിക്കയുടെ അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായുള്ള ലൂണാര്‍ മോഡ്യൂള്‍ പൈലറ്റ് ആയിരുന്നു 85 കാരനായ ബില്‍ ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ്. ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് പത്ത് തവണയാണ് ലൂണാര്‍ മോഡ്യൂള്‍ ചന്ദ്രനെ വലംവെച്ചത്.
    അക്കാലത്ത് ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ദൂരം സഞ്ചരിച്ച പദ്ധതിയായിരുന്നു അത്.
    പിന്നീട് ഏഴ് മാസങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം മനുഷ്യനെ ചന്ദ്രനിലിറക്കിയ അപ്പോളോ 11 പദ്ധതിയ്ക്ക് വഴിപാകിയതും അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധ

    നാസയുടെ അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി ചന്ദ്രനു ചുറ്റിസഞ്ചരിച്ച ബഹിരാകാശ യാത്രികനാണ് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ്. ചൊവ്വാഗ്രഹത്തിലേക്ക് മനുഷ്യനെ അയക്കാനുള്ള പദ്ധതി വിഡ്ഢിത്തവും പരിഹാസ്യവുമാണെന്ന് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ് കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി. ബിബിസി റേഡിയോ 5 ലൈവില്‍ സംസാരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.
    അടുത്ത പത്ത് വര്‍ഷത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ ചൊവ്വയിലേക്ക് മനുഷ്യനെ അയച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള പദ്ധതികള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കാനാണ് നാസയുടെ പദ്ധതി.
    നിലവില്‍ രണ്ട് റോബോട്ടിക്ക് പര്യവേക്ഷണ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ ചൊവ്വയിലുണ്ട്.
    മനുഷ്യനെ അയച്ചുകൊണ്ടുള്ള പദ്ധകള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി വരുന്ന ചിലവാണ് ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സിന്റെ എതിര്‍പ്പിന് കാരണം. ഇപ്പോള്‍ നടന്നുവരുന്ന യന്ത്ര നിയന്ത്രിത സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുള്ള പര്യവേക്ഷണ പദ്ധതികളെ അദ്ദേഹം അനുകൂലിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അതിന് താരതമ്യേന ചിലവ് കുറവാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു. നമ്മളെ ചൊവ്വയിലേക്ക് ആകര്‍ഷിക്കുന്നത് എന്താണ്? അതിന്റെ അനിവാര്യതയെന്താണ്? ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇതില്‍ താല്‍പര്യമുണ്ടെന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നില്ല. ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ് പറഞ്ഞു.
    1968 ല്‍ അമേരിക്കയുടെ അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായുള്ള ലൂണാര്‍ മോഡ്യൂള്‍ പൈലറ്റ് ആയിരുന്നു 85 കാരനായ ബില്‍ ആന്‍ഡേഴ്‌സ്. ഭൂമിയിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് പത്ത് തവണയാണ് ലൂണാര്‍ മോഡ്യൂള്‍ ചന്ദ്രനെ വലംവെച്ചത്.
    അക്കാലത്ത് ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നും ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ദൂരം സഞ്ചരിച്ച പദ്ധതിയായിരുന്നു അത്.
    പിന്നീട് ഏഴ് മാസങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം മനുഷ്യനെ ചന്ദ്രനിലിറക്കിയ അപ്പോളോ 11 പദ്ധതിയ്ക്ക് വഴിപാകിയതും അപ്പോളോ 8 പദ്ധ
