നിലവിൽ മൂന്നു വ്യത്യസ്ത സേവനങ്ങളായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്കിനെയും വാട്സാപിനെയും ഇൻസ്റ്റാഗ്രാമിനെയും ഒരുമിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്ക് മേധാവി മാര്ക് സക്കര്ബര്ഗ് ഒരുങ്ങുകയാണെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോർട്ടുകൾ. മൂന്നു ആപ്ലിക്കേഷനുകളെ തമ്മിലല്ല, മറിച്ച് അവയിലെ ചാറ്റുകളെ തമ്മിലാണ് ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നതെന്നാണ് ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്കിന്റെ വാദം. എന്തായിരിക്കാം ഇത്തരമൊരു നീക്കത്തിനു ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്കിനെ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? തീരുമാനം സക്കർബർഗിന്റെ ആയതിനാൽ ഈ ചോദ്യം ഏറെ പ്രസക്തമാണ്. ഇന്റർനെറ്റ് ലോകത്തെ അതികായൻമാരായ ഫെയ്സ്ബുക്കും ഗൂഗിളുമെല്ലാം പ്രതിയോഗികൾക്കു ചെറിയ സാധ്യതകൾ പോലും നൽകാതെ പരിധിയില്ലാതെ വളരുകയാണെന്ന ആരോപണം കാലങ്ങളായി നിലവിലുള്ളതാണ്. ഇത്തരം വലിയ കമ്പനികളെ ചെറിയ കമ്പനികളാക്കണമെന്ന വാദവും ഈ ആരോപണങ്ങളെ ചുവടുപിടിച്ചു ശക്തമായി കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്, ഒരേ മാനേജ്മെന്റിനു കീഴിലുള്ള കമ്പനികൾ പോലും പരസ്പര ബന്ധമില്ലാത്ത വ്യത്യസ്ത കമ്പനികളായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കണമെന്നാണ് ഈ വാദത്തിന്റെ കാതൽ.
ഇത്തരമൊരു അവസ്ഥ വരികയാണെങ്കില് എഫ്ബിയും ഇന്സ്റ്റഗ്രാമും വാട്സാപ്പും വ്യത്യസ്ത കമ്പനികളായി മാറണം.
