    Ann Curry will get her walking papers from the "Today" show next week, and NBC will pay dearly, according to TMZ.
    Network sources said Curry's contract that guarantees her $10 million a year. She apparently signed it almost a year ago, when she took over as Matt Lauer's co-anchor on "Today." Allegedly, the deal is guaranteed for three years.
    Network sources told TMZ Curry's likely landing spot with be NBC News, where she'll become a foreign correspondent.
    She better do some serious corresponding for $10 million a year.
    Curry's likely ouster is the result of the first prolonged ratings challenge to "Today's" morning supremacy in 16 years. "Today" lost in the ratings this spring for the first time since 1995 after 852 consecutive weeks. Since then, "Today" and ABC's "Good Morning America" have been mostly alternating atop the morning ratings.
    Curry, who has been with "Today" since 1997, replaced Meredith Vieira last June as Lauer's partner. Lauer agreed to a long-term contract this spring to stay with the show and there have rumors that the two do not get along.
    Savannah Guthrie, who co-hosts the show's third hour, is at the top of the list of Curry's possible replacements. Vieira turned down an offer to return to the show, reports said Thursday.

    “One of the things that gives me a sense of calm and certainty in life is Ann Curry’s compassionate style of journalism,” Crowley says on the petition’s web page. “Ann Curry’s sensitivity to the human experience telegraphs through her journalism, to me and many other fans and viewers. Her compassion and dedication to her audience radiates every time she stands in front of a camera. She connects with people. She has definitely connected with me.”

    The reason for the name? Staffers believed getting rid of Curry would be like shooting Bambi.
    Among the other revelations in the report: Bell created a blooper reel of Curry's on-camera mistakes and created a photo of Curry in a yellow dress alongside a picture of Big Bird asking the question, "Who wore it better?" The book also says Bell denies these actions.
