    നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകള്‍ പഴക്കമുള്ളതാണ് മംഗളാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം. നാലു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ സമുച്ചയമാണിത്. പൂര്‍ണമായും കരിങ്കല്ലിലാണ് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.നാല് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുള്ളതില്‍ രണ്ടെണ്ണത്തില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് പൂജ. ഒന്നില്‍ മംഗളാദേവിയും മറ്റേതില്‍ ശിവനുമാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ.ഐതിഹ്യ പ്രകാരം ഇളങ്കോവടികളുടെ ചിലപതികാരത്തിലെ കര്‍ണ്ണകിയുടെ കഥകേട്ട ചേരന്‍ ചെങ്കുട്ടുവനാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. തുറന്ന അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വിനായകന്റെ ഹോമത്തോടെയാണ് മംഗളാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്.ഇവിടുത്തെ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ക്കും സവിശേഷതകള്‍ ഏറെയാണ്. കേരളത്തില്‍ കേരളീയ-തമിഴ് ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നിച്ചു നടക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമായിരിക്കും ഇത്. മറ്റൊരിടത്തും ഇത്തരം ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടറിവില്ല.കര്‍ണ്ണകിയെന്ന മംഗളാദേവിയുടെ പൂജാദികര്‍മ്മങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തുന്നത് തമിഴരാണ്.ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലാകട്ടെ മലയാളിയും.പൂര്‍ണമായും വനത്തിനുളളിലാണ് ഈ ദേവിക്ഷേത്രം. ചൈത്രമാസത്തിലെ പൗര്‍ണമിക്ക് മാത്രമാണ് ഇവിടെ ഭക്തരെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.മംഗളാ ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തന്റെ ചരിത്രവും അതിന്റെ പഴമയും ഇന്നും അവ്യക്തമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് രണ്ടായിരത്തിനും രണ്ടായിരത്തിയഞ്ഞൂറിനും ഇടയ്ക്ക് പഴക്കമുണ്ടെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.ആരാണ് ഇത് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതെന്നും എന്തായിരുന്നു ക്ഷേത്ര നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യമെന്നും വ്യക്തമായ സൂചനയില്ല.

    നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകള്‍ പഴക്കമുള്ളതാണ് മംഗളാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം. നാലു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ സമുച്ചയമാണിത്. പൂര്‍ണമായും കരിങ്കല്ലിലാണ് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.നാല് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുള്ളതില്‍ രണ്ടെണ്ണത്തില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് പൂജ. ഒന്നില്‍ മംഗളാദേവിയും മറ്റേതില്‍ ശിവനുമാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ.ഐതിഹ്യ പ്രകാരം ഇളങ്കോവടികളുടെ ചിലപതികാരത്തിലെ കര്‍ണ്ണകിയുടെ കഥകേട്ട ചേരന്‍ ചെങ്കുട്ടുവനാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. തുറന്ന അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന വിനായകന്റെ ഹോമത്തോടെയാണ് മംഗളാദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്.ഇവിടുത്തെ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ക്കും സവിശേഷതകള്‍ ഏറെയാണ്. കേരളത്തില്‍ കേരളീയ-തമിഴ് ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നിച്ചു നടക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമായിരിക്കും ഇത്. മറ്റൊരിടത്തും ഇത്തരം ആചാരങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടറിവില്ല.കര്‍ണ്ണകിയെന്ന മംഗളാദേവിയുടെ പൂജാദികര്‍മ്മങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തുന്നത് തമിഴരാണ്.ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിലാകട്ടെ മലയാളിയും.പൂര്‍ണമായും വനത്തിനുളളിലാണ് ഈ ദേവിക്ഷേത്രം. ചൈത്രമാസത്തിലെ പൗര്‍ണമിക്ക് മാത്രമാണ് ഇവിടെ ഭക്തരെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.മംഗളാ ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തന്റെ ചരിത്രവും അതിന്റെ പഴമയും ഇന്നും അവ്യക്തമാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് രണ്ടായിരത്തിനും രണ്ടായിരത്തിയഞ്ഞൂറിനും ഇടയ്ക്ക് പഴക്കമുണ്ടെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു.ആരാണ് ഇത് നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതെന്നും എന്തായിരുന്നു ക്ഷേത്ര നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യമെന്നും വ്യക്തമായ സൂചനയില്ല.
