നിലവില്‍ മൂന്ന് ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ കേരള പോലീസിനുണ്ട്
അതിസുരക്ഷയുള്ള വ്യക്തികള്‍ക്കായി സംസ്ഥാന പോലീസ് രണ്ട് ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍കൂടി വാങ്ങുന്നു.
ഓപ്പണ്‍ ടെന്‍ഡറില്ലാതെ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ വാങ്ങാനുള്ള പോലീസ് മേധാവിയുടെ നടപടിക്ക് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം അംഗീകാരം നല്‍കി. നിലവില്‍ മൂന്ന് ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ കേരള പോലീസിനുണ്ട്.1.10 കോടി രൂപ ചെലവില്‍ മിത്സുബിഷി പജേറോ സ്‌പോര്‍ട്സ് കാറുകള്‍ വാങ്ങാനാണ് അനുമതി. 2017-ല്‍ ബെഹ്‌റ ഇതിനായി ടെന്‍ഡര്‍വിളിക്കാതെ നടപടികള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോഴാണ് അനുമതി ലഭിച്ചത്.
ഹിന്ദുസ്ഥാന്‍ മോട്ടോര്‍ കോര്പ്പറേഷന് ലിമിറ്റഡില്‍നിന്നാണ് കാര്‍ വാങ്ങുന്നത്. പോലീസ് മേധാവി ഓര്‍ഡര്‍ നല്‍കിയതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് 30 ശതമാനം തുക കമ്പനിക്ക് മുന്‍കൂറായി നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. സുരക്ഷാകാരണങ്ങളാലും ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങളുടെ പ്രത്യേകതകളും കാരണം ഓപ്പണ്‍ ടെന്‍ഡര്‍ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാനാവാവില്ലെന്നായിരുന്നു പോലീസ് മേധാവി സര്‍ക്കാരിന് നല്‍കിയ വിശദീകരണം.
ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍മിക്കുന്ന കമ്പനികള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ അധികമില്ല.
താരതമ്യേന കുറഞ്ഞ വിലയില്‍ ഇവിടെത്തന്നെ കിട്ടുമെന്നതിനാലാണ് ഹിന്ദുസ്ഥാന്‍ മോട്ടോര്‍ കോര്പ്പറേഷന് ഓര്‍ഡര്‍ നല്‍കിയതെന്നും വിശദീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു.നിലവിലുള്ള മൂന്ന് വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ രണ്ടെണ്ണം കൊച്ചിയിലാണ്. ഒരെണ്ണം തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തും. ചിലയവസരങ്ങളില്‍ തമിഴ്നാട്ടില്‍നിന്ന് കേരളാ പോലീസ് ബുള്ളറ്റ്പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ വാടകയ്‌ക്കെടുക്കേണ്ടിവന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് പോലീസ് വൃത്തങ്ങള്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു. സെഡ് പ്ലസ് കാറ്റഗറി സുരക്ഷയുള്ള വിശിഷ്ടവ്യക്തികളുടെ സഞ്ചാരത്തിനായി ബുള്ളറ്റ് പ്രൂഫ് വാഹനങ്ങള്‍തന്നെ ഉപയോഗിക്കണമെന്ന നിര്‍ദേശമുണ്ട്.
