തമിഴ്നാട് ജില്ലയുടെ ഭാഗമായ കന്യാകുമാരിയില് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രശ്സതമായ ശുചീന്ദ്രം സ്ഥാനുമലയന് പെരുമാള്ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് വേണ്ടിയാണ് ലോട്ടറി നറുക്കെടുപ്പ് നടത്തിയത്.1847ല് തിരുവിതാംകൂര് രാജ്യമായിരുന്ന സമയത്ത് ആയില്യം തിരുന്നാള് മഹാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്താണ് സംഭവം.40000 രൂപസമാഹരിക്കാനാണ് നറുക്കെടുപ്പ് നടത്തിയത്. പതിനായിരം രൂപയായിരുന്നു സമ്മാനതുക.ഇതിനായി 1 രുപയുള്ള 50000 ടിക്കറ്റുകള് തിരുവിതാംകൂറില് വിറ്റുവെന്നുമാണ് ചരിത്രം.ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയിലെ തന്നെ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമേറിയ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില് ഒന്നാണ് ശുചീന്ദ്രത്ത സ്ഥാനുമലയ പെരുമാള് ക്ഷേത്രം.ത്രിമൂര്ത്തികള്ക്കായി സമര്പ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ് ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് വര്ഷങ്ങളുടെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം .18-ാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പുതുക്കി പണിതത്.134 അടി ഉയരമുള്ള ഗോപുരത്തില് ചുവര്ചിത്രങ്ങളും ശില്പ്പങ്ങളും വെള്ളാരം കല്ലുകളില് കൊത്തുപണികള് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ ഗോപുരത്തിന്റെ 25 അടി ഉയരമുള്ള വാതില് മറ്റൊരു ആകര്ഷണമാണ്
