Scope of Digital Payments
The Unified Payments Interface has emerged as a favourite digital payment choice by the citizens. Today, UPI has over 26 crore unique users and 5 crore merchants. UPI’s two factors of authentication i.e., device binding and UPI PIN, is going to be applicable. UPI executed 594.63 crore transactions worth a total of Rs 10.40 lakh crore in May 2022 alone.
Now, UPI is all set to make the plastic cards in the payments process obsolete. In a move to broaden the scope of digital payments in the country, the Reserve Bank of India has allowed credit cards to be linked with UPI for payments. Currently, only savings and current accounts can be linked to UPI platforms to allow transactions.
This move offers more convenience to the users as they can use their mobile phones to make a payment while availing the benefits of a credit card. Till now, only debit cards connected to savings bank accounts and current accounts are allowed to link up to the UPI platform.
This linking of credit cards to UPI will provide a customer with a wider choice of payments. Once this new option is available, it will open up more avenues for consumers to carry out transactions with ease.
While credit cards linked to UPI will surely offer more convenience to the users, it can also lead to overspending. The decision will promote customer convenience and digitisation. Experts say this can lead to increased credit card bills and will lead to hefty finance charges being levied, if not paid on time. Once cardholders start using this facility, they need to be aware of the transactions they put on their credit cards and only spend as much as they can afford to pay back on time.
At present, making UPI payments via a debit card or saving account is free. Credit card companies usually depend on the merchant discount rate, which is charged on every usage for making merchant payments as a revenue stream. According to Gartner, “Rising interest in cloud-native architectures is prompting questions about the future need for server virtualization in the data center. The most common driver is Linux-OS-based virtualization, which is the basis for containers. Linux allows organizations to make the most of their cloud-based environments and power their digital transformation strategies. Many of today’s most cutting-edge IoT devices and cloud-based applications and technology run on some flavor of Linux, making it a critical area of modern technology to secure.
The report investigates the top malware families affecting Linux servers during the first half of 2021, with the top types of malwares being:
· 25% Coinminers – The high prevalence of cryptocurrency miners is of little surprise given the clear motive of the seemingly endless amount of computing power the cloud holds, making it the perfect environment.
· 20% Web shells – The recent Microsoft Exchange Attack, which leveraged web shells, showed the importance of patching against this type of malware
· 12% Ransomware – The most prevalent detected was the modern ransomware family, DoppelPaymer, however some other notable ransomware families seen targeting Linux systems as well are RansomExx, DarkRadiation, and the DarkSide.
It’s safe to say that Linux is here to stay, and as organizations continue to move to Linux-based cloud workloads, malicious actors will follow. 90% of enterprises are yet to achieve their digital-first goals with 49% admitting that cyber security is the top most priority for their business. It also brings to light, 45% of enterprises lost productivity during the crisis due to problems of connectivity and 41% enterprises attribute the shift to digital-first operating models for maintaining market share during the course of the pandemic. The survey was conducted among business leaders across 750 enterprises in 11 countries and classifies them into three distinct categories as per their digital maturity stage.
And they are number 1 - Digital Trailblazers: Only 10% enterprises have the most advanced digital operating models, connectivity platforms and strategies ensuring secure and trusted operations. 63% of them attribute revenue growth to their digital-first strategy.
Number 2 - Digital Migrants: 52% of enterprises have limited digitalisation in their business, but still need to improve in several areas of digital capability.
Number 3 - Digital Aspirants: 38% of enterprises are at a nascent stage of digitalising their business and have been unable to achieve growth due to lack of digital maturity.
An expert says, the digital-first operating model is a must for enterprises in the new world order. As economies open, trust and security are core to the competitiveness and agility of enterprises seeking growth. The scale of digitalisation will be the new barometer of success for enterprises irrespective of its size or industry. Finally, the current shift to digital-first operating models is a defining moment in the evolution of businesses and rethinking the new world.

इंटरनेट कंपनी याहू पर अब तक का सबसे बड़ा साइबर हमला हुआ है। हैकर्स ने याहू के लगभग 50 करोड़ यूजर्स का अकाउंट हैका कर लिया..खुद याहू ने इसकी जानकारी दी है. याहू का दावा है कि ‘स्टेट स्पॉन्सर्ड एक्टर’ ने 2014 में कंपनी के नेटवर्क से 50 करोड़ यूजर्स के डेटा को एक्सेस किया था. याहू ने कहा है कि यूजर्स के अकाउंट से जिस जानकारी की चोरी हुई है उनमें उनका नाम, इमेल आईडी, जन्मदिन, टेलीफोन नंबर, पासवर्ड और इंक्रीप्टेड या अन इंक्रीप्टेड सेक्युरिटी सवाल-जवाब भी शामिल हो सकते हैं. याहू कंपनी ने बयान जारी कर कहा है कि हम सुरक्षा के लिए कड़े कदम उठा रहे हैं. हमने यूजर्स के अन इंक्रीप्टेड सवालों की वैलिडीटी खत्म कर दी है. जिससे सेक्योरिटी सवालों का जवाब देकर अकाउंट एक्सेस ना किया जा सके. याहू ने सभी यूजर्स जिन्होंने 2014 से पासवर्ड नहीं बदला है, उनसे पासवर्ड बदलने की अपील की है. फिलहाल इस मामले की जांच जारी है।
