Mobile devices are now a key part of our personal and professional lives. Because of the number of fake emails we receive, most of us have become quite good at identifying phishing and spam messages. To help prove their credibility, many organizations now send duplicate messages to our mobile devices, such as push notifications or SMS texts repeating key information and instructions.
#Hackers know that they too can increase the apparent credibility of their phishing messages by doing exactly the same thing. So next time you receive an email and a mobile notification, take a moment to check if it is real – or if someone is trying to scam you.
However, smartphone security has not kept pace with traditional computer security. Technical security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus, and encryption, are uncommon on mobile phones, and mobile phone operating systems are not updated as frequently as those on personal computers. Mobile social networking applications sometimes lack the detailed privacy controls of their PC counterparts.
Cybercriminals will use any of the techniques to try and install spyware on your smartphone. Spyware runs in the background stealing sensitive personal information, particularly passwords and payment details, and sends it back to the hacker.
Without strong security standards, many smartphone apps can make your information vulnerable to malicious actors. App developers might use weak encryption algorithms that are easy to hack, or unintentionally share digital “tokens” that allow hackers to impersonate real people online. Unfortunately, there is “very little that the average person can do to know which apps don’t do a good job with security.
Hackers can use the information they gather to launch other cyberattacks, such as breaking into your company network – or to empty your personal bank account.

Time to regulate e-waste Industry
Two categories of electrical and electronic equipment namely IT and Telecommunication Equipment and Consumer Electricals and Electronics such as TVs, Washing Machines, Refrigerators, Air Conditioners including fluorescent and other mercury containing lamps are covered under the E-waste management Rules. The main feature, of these rules, is Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
According to a Toxics Link study on the thriving informal e-waste sector in Delhi NCR in 2018, nearly 5,000 e-waste processing units, mostly in east Delhi, were functioning without proper guidelines, precautions or norms.
An e-waste recycling plan is a type of sustainability effort or program that seeks to collect old electronics from around the corporation and safely dispose of them through a certified electronics recycling company. After all, it’s no secret that recycling electronics aids in environmental protection.
90% of the e-waste - Computer/ Laptops/Server/Storage/ Mobile Phones in Delhi is not being recycled. Rather it is further resale after doing minimal repairs/changes and then repack, sold as the refurbished products.
A subject matter expert says, generally a product comes to the e-waste after the corporates use it for a minimum period of three years, who generally buys in bulk quantities. The e-waste companies take the products for e-waste in Kilogram and Tons for recycling but the interesting thing is they reuse in various ways.
Experts suggest, for example, when any gadget comes out for e-waste, every product comes with a serial number. The authority has to do proper checks and balances to implement proper e-waste programmes.
As per E-waste the product which has burnt or put under recycled, the e-waste company has to provide the serial number of the destroyed products and that has to notify the respective company. Simply, it is a platform developed by a company offering various services under one umbrella. It usually involves a marketplace of third-party offerings fully integrated into the ecosystem and makes use of vast amounts of data to engage with users and offer a wide variety of experiences and services. India has already become a market where a majority of those experiencing the internet for the first time are doing so on their mobile phones. This is one of the main reasons why Indian companies are looking at building super apps. Customers can shop, book flight tickets, hotel accommodations and more using this app. The e-commerce application is expected to face stiff competition from Amazon, Flipkart and JioMart. According to a KPMG report, super-apps or conglomerated apps are having a disruptive influence on the banking and financial sector. Multiple banking apps mean that users have to manage with many login credentials and payment options, which turn out to be cumbersome.
Tata Neu super app is going to challenge Flipkart, JioMart and Amazon. Reliance Industries, under its Jio umbrella, has consolidated various services and offerings such as shopping, content streaming, groceries, payments, cloud storage services, ticket bookings etc. Further, Alibaba Group investee super-app Paytm started as an e-wallet and now offers a gamut of additional services such as mobile payments, eCommerce, insurance, movie tickets, digital gold, and so on. Flipkart Group owned payments app PhonePe has tied up with companies such as Ola Cabs, Swiggy, Grofers, AJio, Decathlon, DelBy VARINDIA| 58 views

If you are not in control of the technology or you are not ready to battle it out, the world henceforth can never be yours. If technology overawes you and you get caught unawares over and over again, then there are certainly very serious issues, with the people, organisations and the systems. It is an absolute fact that you cannot catch up with technology at will. The pace of scientific and technological development and the rules, laws and conventions safeguarding it, will always ensure that you remain a second-grade player and if you are not a part of its development. If somebody else will give you the solution, then the only thing you get is a black box and you will not be able to do any customization or upgradation. You can just be a user of those pre-determined limitations.
Solutions which we are desperately looking for now, in the wake of the Jammu IAF base drone attack takes years of efforts of stitching technology solutions as per the requirements. The requirements too, keep changing as the technology progresses. It is easier said than done. Two things should be kept in mind is that it is a battle of attrition in technological development / advancement and that defensive cover for an all-pervasive technology like the drone means bringing in large number of tech elements together, making them into a solution and then has to be improved upon on a regular basis. The catching game is the order of the day. If you get into this mode, you get into the league of successful countries who have been able to take the lead and maintain it. Ironically, most are not that way.
