Banking Crisis – Who’s Next?
The fallout from the recent #bankingcrisis is likely to push the US economy into a mild recession later this year. After First Republic Bank became another victim of the banking crisis a couple of months after Jim Cramer endorsed it, several other large banks have been suffering major losses.
The stock of Los Angeles-based PacWest Bancorp bank’s share price has slumped after it said it has entered talks with potential partners and investors about strategic options. With this it has declined 55.63% in the last five days, while Metropolitan Bank Holding Corp has lost 26.84%, Comerica Incorporated 21.11%, and Western Alliance Bank corporation has erased 37.14%, as per the latest Google Finance data. The failures are the biggest to hit the US since the 2008 financial crisis.
First Republic bank failure means unfortunately that the other 'so-called' troubled regional banks should probably continue to sleep with one eye open. Experts say, if a 'confidence crisis' can happen to First Republic, it can happen to any bank in the country. Investors are speculating Who’s next?

Worldwide services contracts touched $48 billion
There is a saying that every disruption brings new opportunities. We can keep a positive attitude and see problems as opportunities. Disruptive innovation is where you create a new market by focusing on a different set of values than that are currently applied in the existing market. This new market then ultimately takes over the existing market. If the demand cycle flips to a higher scale than what was seen during the Covid-19 pandemic, companies will be stretched too thin to manage their resources.
The U.S. economy contracted for a second straight quarter between April and June as per the government data, it is adding fuel to recession fears. Many blue-chip tech companies started hiring resources, to offer service contracts including managed services, third party outsourced jobs by setting up BPO and KPO, with this direct hiring by the large corporates to come down.
As per IDC, Worldwide Services Contracts Reached $48 Billion in the First Half of 2022 with Strong Growth in Average Deal Size. More than 720 managed services deals were signed worldwide in the first half of 2022 with $48 billion in contract value.
While the total number of deals declined compared to the same period in 2021, the average deal size increased by 20%. Moreover, the average deal size in terms of Total Contract Value has almost doubled when compared to the first half of 2021.
The impact of #COVID19 has accelerated the adoption of digital technologies, specifically focused on providing a digital workplace, to ensure the continuation of business and minimize disruptions while improving flexibility and enhancing productivity, says expert. The push to become a digital-first organization has created opportunities for managed service providers with the expertise and resources to facilitate these efforts.

Federal Reserve chair: Goal is to keep US economy in 'good place'
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says the US economy is facing some risks at the moment, but overall it is in a "good place" and the Fed's main job is to "keep it there as long as possible." Powell notes that unemployment is at a half-century low and inflation is running close to the 2% target. He says that while Fed officials believe they have the correct strategy and tools to extend the current record-long expansion, it is important to examine whether any changes could improve the Fed's handling of the economy. The US Federal Reserve left its key interest rate unchanged Wednesday but signaled that it's prepared to start cutting rates if needed to protect the U.S. economy from trade conflicts and other threats. The Fed kept its benchmark rate _ which influences many consumer and business loans _ in a range of 2.25% to 2.5%, where it's been since December. US Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell said that trade friction and slowing growth worldwide have led many central bankers to feel the case for an interest rate cut has "strengthened" but that they want to see more data before moving.

Bhumi Pednekar recently appeared in the comedy Thank You For Coming and the film invited some extreme reactions from the viewers. While some praised the film for its bold concept, some shamed it for that. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble host Akash Bhatnagar, Bhumi spoke about the latter group of people and slammed them for the shaming. She expressed her disappointment towards people who didn’t criticise the film but its intent. The actress discussed the prevalent gender bias and how people never took offence when she was a part of such stories told from a male perspective. She pointed out how Pankaj Tripathi and Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 was supported by the same people who shamed her film, when somewhere they dealt with the same subject. Bhumi revealed if not getting any support from women within the industry disappointed her.
