المعبد الذهبي أو معبد هارماندير صاحب في ولاية امريتسار يعتبر من أهم المعابد في النظام العقائدي لديانة السيخ كما أنه يقف شاهدا على تاريخ يمتد على مدى 600 عاما لميلاد وتطور الديانة السيخية. ويستعرض الفيلم هذا التاريخ المعقد لهذه الطائفة الروحية التي ظهرت من رحم الهندوسية والإسلام وتحولها إلى واحدة من أكثر الديانات انتشارا في العالم من خلال استعراض يوم من حياة المعبد الذهبي. ويتتبع الفيلم عملية تنظيف المعبد في وقت ماقبل الفجر ومراسم الاستيقاظ في الفجر الى اعادة تنصيب جورو جراناث صاحب في حجرته الساعة العاشرة مساءا وفي خلال هذه الفترة يستكشف حياه الاشخاص الذين يرتبطون بالمعبد ومساهمتهم في العناية به وبالعقيدة بصفة عامة. وتظهر القيم الروحية والخدمات المقدمة في الانشطة اليومية التي يمارسونها في المعبد مثل تقديم الطعام المجاني للجميع. كما تناول الفيلم الاعتماد على التكنولوجيا في دعم تعاليم السيخية في كافة انحاء العالم.
